Picked these up from the Night before Christmas sale. Now let me just say, these mounts ROCK. I opted for the softer street version. I also opted for a modified aluminum arm. Here's why:

Stock aluminum arms have this little nub to support the oil pan on the aft left corner.

As I have read the steel motor mounts are "interchangeable" left and right. If you notice, this steel mount does not have the supporting nub. I have yet to see a "true" driver's side steel mount. Maybe they have this nub, maybe they don't.

I believe the aluminum arm will help keep the seal on my oil pan as it does not currently leak. When installing the aluminum arm I used some black RTV to form a gasket around the mating surfaces where the bolts go. I torqued all three bolts slowly and evenly to 61 ft lbs.

A light reflection on the install:

Take your time. When I installed these mounts I did not remove the motor or unbolt the crossmember. I put the front end on jack stands and chocked the rear wheels, then used a hydraulic jack to lift the motor at the bell housing. You do not need to disconnect intake piping to get enough clearance. If you are installing these with the stock turbos, you must remove the oil return pipe next to the secondary turbo or else you will not be able to insert the bolt through the arm.

I had been reading up on poly mounts and have come across people complaining about excess vibration. Coming from a good passenger side mount and a separating aluminum drivers side mount, I have noticed almost NO increase in vibration. When I say this, I mean that with driving, idling, accelerating, and decelerating, I feel NO increase in vibration over stock. My cabin has all the same little rattles I have yet to find. Having said that, the only time I truly noticed a change in vibration was when my radiator fans would kick on. The engine momentarily stumbles and then idles up. The momentary stumble held the motor tight instead of flopping around. On to the pros. My shifts feel SO much more precise. There is no movement from the transmission from getting on and off the gas at high RPM. The transmission feels much more solid. Hard clutch engagement feels smoother during high RPM shifts. Its as if the power is being delivered more to the ground and less drivetrain shock exists.

If I could change one thing on these mounts, it would be the length of the bolts. I feel as if they hang pretty low below the subframe. Really that is the only thing I can say about these mounts. And thats not even really all that bad. I do recommend these mounts. If you are afraid of a vibration increase, you have nothing to fear. These mounts are the way to go if you have a broken drivers side mount or if you just want to tighten up your driveline a little bit more.

Well this will be my final update to this thread.

Took a trip to Tail of the Dragon this weekend with a couple friends of mine. Coming around a hairpin, there was a cruiser over the yellow line and I had to swerve to avoid him. This is a reminder to anyone who cruises that road to always be wary of the unpredictable. Thankfully no one was hurt. So the good news and bad news. The good news is, there is about to be some low mileage parts for sale. The bad news is this is the end of this thread. :P

So sorry that this happen. I know how much time and work you put into your FD. Just think how much you learned and will be able apply to your next FD. Are you still going to DGRR?

I actually won't be able to make it to DGRR this year as I'm deploying just before we go. As of so far I don't have plans to pick up another FD. One step at a time for now. I need to get my insurance taken care of, buy this back, part it out, then save for the next toy.

I am extremely lucky though. If that tree didn't catch me, I wouldn't be writing this. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could have been. I woke the dragon this year -.- Sorry.

The insurance adjuster came out yesterday morning. I should have the estimates and conclusion sometime today. It doesn't look good though. I guess it's a good thing I have all the receipts for everything I have ever bought for this.

That sucks, man. Every time a friend comes to visit, they want to go ride the Gap. I really don't like that road. I might make DGRR, but you guys will hate me if you get stuck behind me driving the Gap. I had a friend die up there on his bike, and I've had too many cars, trucks, bikes, etc. heading straight for me in my lane. Morons think it's the track. The road is really overrated, but there is an awesome track in Dawsonville, GA (atlantamotorsportspark.com) and another in Braselton (RoadAtlanta.com).
