We gotta get a day where everyone just goes to the garage and just bangs everything out quick. Me, Jason, you, and Tom and whoever else is down. Have that shit cleaned, painted, installed, running, and ready for a tune.

dude you lost me the stechs... lol And thanks for being ready and able to jump in and help. thanks to everyone, love the help the rotary community provides each other. |
So the other weekend I go ahead and start putting the set up in and ran into a major problem, The HKS manifold sits so low that the turbo would not fit... not even close... it was hitting the LIM and the frame... and sat too low for my liking in the engine bay.
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...627_201334.jpg After a a stress filled night of wondering what I will do I started a WTB thread to look for a manifold that might fit... only one I knew fit was a T88 manifold thanks to SpeedNYC since he ran this turbo a while back. but no luck with anything local and affordable. luckily mobeoner has a collection of crap laying around so I picked one off the floor that we had and the fitment is a 100% better... http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_122247.jpg Still need to shave the compressor housing a little bit so there is more than a mm of space from the frame, but it fits in! http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_163321.jpg http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_163305.jpg |
those sides with the oem front lip just doesn't flow thought about changing one or the other?

if you need a hand im game:icon_tup: (if im free and my car is done lol) Sure a lower car looks better, and a lower c.g. would help handling. But overall, will lowering the car have a negative effect on handling? Would it be slower on a road course or autocross. I don't want a bouncy 'slammed' ride like some low riders. I still want the best handling I can muster. Thanks. JyRO |

tell me about it... I have some body parts at home, just haven't put them on... I wanna do a whole kit and rims and all... but I would shoot my self if I do all that and my motor blows or wont run right with the new set up... car needs to survive at least 4 passes at the track before I consider any more body, I don't even care about the scratches and stuff on there. need it to run right!

While being frustrated with all the issues on putting in the turbo I figured I would do something that has to go smoothly... So I decided to put on my custom plates that came in... Even had issues with that with the screws going on lol. but it got on.
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_165133.jpg |
So after finally getting the turbo on the problems as always continue. small issue is the downpipe is not 100% aligning up with exhaust... then again, right now my exhaust is just laying on the braces under the car... and only i think one bracket is holding it up. so small issue... but easily fixed if I need to cut and extend.
http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_163109.jpg Larger issue is the fact that the waste gate does not fit now! which sucks balls... The downpipe is so close to flange there is no way it is fitting on there now. Trying to think of my options... 1- is to try to raise the turbo using a T4 Flange so the DP sits higher. but I don't think it will still clear. 2- make a v-band bend for the wastegate. like a 45degree bend extension to get it to clear the pipe. (will be pricey to make with v-bands and clamps) 3- chop the DP at the top and extend it like 2 inches. so the pipe goes closer to the wall then the manifold/flange! (thinking this might be the cheapest route) http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_163100.jpg http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/a...702_163052.jpg |
Damn dude! That sucks. At least the license plate fits up right! :D

I guess I need to figure out where to put the bung for the wideband... I can make a extension pipe to match up to the midpipe with that on it so I can kill two birds with one stone!
|
It's all good gee, we can fab all that stuff, we gotta keep muibubbles on stand by I heard he can fabricate his ass off :)
Give him a welder and he can build the empire state building. LoL |
^^^ LMFAO from who? my welds are UGLY. thats why i usually grind them off ahahah im pretty good at brackets but thats all ahaha but i mostly work with 20gauge so its super easy to burn though and a PITA... when i weld thicker metals im okay... ;)

been on vacation for a week in Florida! can't wait to get back at the car! too bad it won't be till the weekend most likely! just need to hope that when I chop up the down pipe it will clear the wastegate!
|
Went by the garage to pick up some stuff, getting my mind set back on the car... Car is just waiting to get wrapped up. but I do love the turbo sitting in there once I open the hood! lol

Ya man that turbo looks massive in person. I got a sneak peek of your car when I stopped by to pick up the 550/1300 injector setup from Jason. Keep up the great work!
