Dabebop's Build Thread

So After searching for a year and a half after selling my old rx7 (1996 165,000 km's) and purchasing the Evo 10 and enjoying it for a year and a half the bug bit me

I wanted another Rx7 I missed my old silver one, she was messy and loud but I loved her

then I found this little gem Stock Standard, and 31,208km's on the clock, Leather interior, cruise control, airbag, climate control, Bose stereo, and a sunroof 1992 red rx7 freshly imported from japan to New Zealand

The old Silver one

This time a much more sensible one... I think... for now...

So I had a few things I wanted with the next one, low km's, Airbag, and stock as possible.

After picking it up In went the Strut brace from the old 7 that i sold

Then took her for a drive down to hamilton

The car drove really well, starts from cold and does not throw oil all over the place like the old one!

I also put in a new Head unit to the car, but I cant find any pics anywhere, I will post more later!

So plans.

- New front lip 98 spec (ordered)
- Re-Amemiya Exhaust (ordered)
- Suspenson (its a bit noisy but it is 22 years old) not looking at coilovers just some nice replacement stuff maybe KYB or something along those lines with standard springs and maybe look at the bushings and such later down the track
- Alarm
- Get the rear speakers working
- Feed side steps
- fix my set of Volk GTP wheels
- Setrab oil coolers
- power FC
- apexi pod filters
- Tune from St-Hi tec in Auckland

also this arrived today from sakebomb garage! oooh are they pretty or what!

No one here is going to care about your Evo! Lol

A nice pair of fd's though. Are Fd's hard to find in New Zealand or no?

I found myself caring less and less for her as the more I drive the rx7

Rx7's are quite common here as importing laws let us bring in 20 and over to register on the road

you only see them on the road in summer haha

the other fd we found in a garage where I live, it hadnt been moved in 5 years so we scored it for 2,000 and towed it away, its complete but needs a rebuild, new turbos and alot.... alot of love haha

this is how we found it

both are red 1992, though his one "had" a supra spoiler on it (apparently common in japan) its gone now though haha

Thanks! hopefully it will look great with the new wheels and black lip and steps

Im taking it to a place called St- Hitec in Auckland for tuning

The tuner Soichi Tate is highly rated, and I have used him for about 10 years now

Im not sure on the intercooler yet, I was looking at the Greddy standard replacement one, but Im going to look around as I diddnt want a front mount or go to a v-mount

Im going to keep the twins for now, as the car has done next to no km's and runs perfect

I got the evo reflashed and dyno tuned, it was $1500 from St-hitec and he managed to get and extra 46kw at the wheels, so now its at 238kw at all 4, quite nice for only 1 bar boost

The Rx7 plans are to keep it fairly stock engine wise until things need replacing

mostly what I am focusing on it the suspension as its all stock standard and 22 years old now its kind of noisy and a bit rubbish

its going to my mechanic tomorrow to get a few things sorted out and hes going to have a look at what needs to be done. Hopefully it wont be a massive list.

I also took off the front lip on saturday and realised most of the bolts are a bit rusty, and have never been removed (which is nice!)

tried to fit the 98 spec front lip, but I diddnt have a drill so I will attempt that at a later date.
