This gets more impressive with each post.
I must have missed it, but where did the hood prop come from? It's cool. |
Wow! This is an awesome looking car. :icon_tup:
|
I like where this thread is going
Hm, I may need one of those hood props for my 20B car to match the Cusco titanium front strut bar..... |

Rich, I am loving the ti hood prop...if you find a piece of Benjamin under the couch, it's worth it!

Finally got everything done and now it's home! Ended up with 380whp/298tq at 14psi on a Dynojet. Car runs amazing and I am super happy with everything.
Attachment 604502 Vmount is well ducted to maximize efficiency Attachment 604503 Same with the oil cooler. The R-Magic duct fits perfectly with the Sakebomb race oil cooler and 99spec bumper Attachment 604504 Trying to reduce as much under hood temp as possible. Turbo blanket looks gorgeous and the new dp is wrapped with titanium heat wrap. Attachment 604505 I decided to keep my AC because I am not young and stupid anymore lol. Got to make sure I don't melt the lines though so here is a custom heatshield to further protect the AC Attachment 604506 Keeping fuel happy Attachment 604507 Stoptech Trophy BBK. http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/...psiwfrb2tt.jpg cleaned up the interior a bit Attachment 604508 Big kudos to Fris at Lucky7 for his amazing work. Never thought I would say this but I am 100% happy with the car now. Time to get her back on the track. And I think I need to do a proper photoshoot to show it off some more :) |
One of my fav builds. What are you running for rear brakes?
|
dang. Super clean interior, AC and track ready. I'm jealous.
Good to know that the r magic ducts fits the sake bomb oil cooler kit. |
Very nice

I'm curious about this..... the R-Magic ducts are sized for the oem coolers. How do the ducts mate up to the SBG coolers, do they allow air to hit the entire core?

The duct is sized for OEM cooler but it sits perfectly flush against the SBG coolers and direct air to about 3/4 of the cooler. It's not perfect but since the 99spec opening is only so big, there is only so much you can do. I am sure if you are handy enough with sheet metal, you could build a funnel type ducting to direct air to 100% of the oil cooler. Anyway, I'll try to get better pictures to show the Rmagic duct.

I love this car! Any issues with the intercooler being hard mounted to the core support? When I bought my car it was the same and both mounts were snapped off. I built new mounts using the rubber mounts you see on air boxes and used hump couplers to help with vibrations.
|
This build is great. How will you find time to drive 2 RX-7s?? Haha!

Wow, im loving everything...exterior, interior, and motor. But I really love the fenders in combination with the 99 spec front end

Love this build! Great taste in mods for sure

Had a great time at SS 20 and meeting with other CYM. Back to storage!

I hate photobucket...let's see if this works.

Nice numbers.
Time to bring the car back out and play. The rain should be stopping soon!. Couple questions regarding your oil cooler ducts set up. How did you get the R-magic oil cooler ducts to fit the larger sakebomb oil coolers? Isnt the opening too small to feed the larger than OEM oil coolers? How did you secure the duct to the oil cooler? My sakebomb oil coolers dont have a tabs to attach the ducts. *EDIT* Pardon me. Just re-read the thread n I saw that you already explained your duct set up. Thanks! |
Obviously the 99 spec bumper opening is smaller than the sakebomb oil cooler but I think having ducts still improves overall cooling efficiency since it'll point the air directly over the coolers. I don't have any instrumented testing but the oil temp stays very consistent during hot laps.

Looking good inside and out.

Car looks awesome. Very clean.

Looking so nice !!!! May i ask where you get the bolts for the strut tower ?
|
Holy shit thats a small battery! Any starting issues or electrical gremlins with such a small one?
|
Love that 4th pic that shows the car from the front!!!

Very clean, car came a long way, good work :icon_tup:

Now for the battery, the good news in 22 years I have only had to replace the battery once. That one replacement was my fault as I dropped a wrench across the positive and negative terminals, the wench went flying across the garage and embedded itself in the garage wall. The battery was toast, and I left the hole in the wall as a reminder. The current battery has been in the car for 12 years. So, for the real issues. If your car sits for more than a week between use, this battery does not have enough reserve capacity to run the cars electronics, ie the alarm, for more than a week. I keep a charger capable of maintaining an AGM battery connected when the car isn't running. In addition there is plenty of juice to start the car most of the time unless you live in Frostbite Falls, Minnesota or Norway and you are trying to start the car after sitting in a parking lot in February. My one stranding was after the car sat over night in temperatures hovering around -15 °C. |

I've been running that battery, the Odyssey PC680, for 22 years now. It is a great way to rebalance the front of the car. Mazda engineers gave the car a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution across the front tires with the average Japanese driver sitting on the right hand side. Putting a driver on the left side shifted excess weight to the left front tire. Eliminating 11kg sitting ahead of the left front tire corrects some of that imbalance.

BUt it will get me quite a few extra centimeters of available space for intercooling, without having to relocate the battery. Even with a SMIC i would see some gains in space. |
I don't have any problems with the battery. The last time I started the car was 6 months ago and it fired up without any hesistation. Obviously, it's on a battery tender but I love the size/weight and brings back a little balance with the added weight of the vmount.

I got the titanium bolts here - https://dressupbolts.com/products/ma...anium-bolt-kit

Thanks, thats some grat info! I was not aware they are AGM units, but that means ill have to get a new charger if i swap battery. And also, the car sits longer than a week at times, and i dont have power available in the garage where i live.

I moved the PC 680 to the trunk, on the passenger side... getting those batteries out of the engine bay heat helps a lot, as does a pigtail for a pug in trickle charger/maintainer.

Any updates on this awesome motor? Still on the 7670?
