QC The Complete newb trying to learn BUILD!

Hey there guys, and welcome to my build thread where I go from complete newb to moderate newb. Feel free to join me in this, what may turn out to be painful to watch thread from your POV. Soon to be filled with pics and videos! Here's a little background and some pics to start out!

I'm extremely new, not only to rotaries but to any sort of mechanics whatsoever. I mean the simplest things! Anyways, I initially bought a 3000GT base to do my exploring on and I was actually going to try and 4G swap it but somehow I ended up buying a third car. My 92' JDM FD. I bought it with abou 45k miles on it and now I'm ready to start working on it. My goal right now is to end up hitting around 350rwhp(I know still need some more parts). I just got my first shipment of some parts in and waitin on others. I'll post below along with a few pics.

Greddy BOV
Aluminum flange
Turbo xs mbc (just to start with)
Apexi power FC, commander, and data logic
RP competition fuel pump
Aluminum AST
Gauge pod from flyrx7(I have the same one from pro sport but god I love the flyrx7 one so much more)

Waiting on full Greddy V-mount from sakebomb garage.
And HKS super turbo exhaust

Update, a few photos including compression test results(anyone got any outlook on how these numbers look?). "This was a one-owner vehicle and was owned by a shop owner out in Shizuoka, Japan who specializes in Mazdas."

Update car is currently traveling across the US. When it gets to Virginia I'm getting it wrapped burnt orange and getting the back seats sprayed black. I'm currently looking through the seat thread to get some nice front seats

So a little bad news. The transport was trying to jump my car to drive it off the trailer and he was leaning on my headlight which broke it. I tried to fix it by buying some new brackets, and using a high grade bonding putty. It worked for a while then it flew off and someone ran over it. I didn't have time to get anything painted before the car meet so I just threw the new ones on and took off. I don't think they look half bad the way they are! Didn't have much trouble registering, but sales tax was 1100 which just about blew my pants off because that's what I was going to use for a new wrap. Ouch

Does Quebec go by red book value too when determining sales tax? They implemented red book value here a while ago and some people are having to pay more tax on their used cars than what they actually paid for them.

I'm not sure what value they went by, but I'm pretty sure it was just tax on the bill of sale cost which was still insane. Can't wait until I transfer away from Virginia.

Ok, I see. I didn't know that you were in VA. I though that you were in Quebec, Canada. Your thread says "QC" on it, which stands for "Quebec."

Up here in Canada, when you buy a used car then transfer it in to your name, most provincial governments go by the car's red book value. That means that you pay tax on what the government says the car is worth, not what you actually paid for it. For example, if you buy a 15 year old Civic for $1000 and the government says that the red book value is $4000 then you pay tax on $4000 and not what you actually paid for the car. With our crazy taxes, you'd end up paying $600 in tax on your $1000 Civic.

Alright, for anyone that wants to know how to repair an AC condenser leak, I should be making a video here in the next week. Need to get the car up on some jacks and pull the condenser. Going to take it to a AC&R lab for the navy where they fix non auto AC's and use their torch to braze the leak, and pump nitrogen in it to test for remaining leaks. We will also be hooking it initially up to a vacuum setup to pull out all the coolant, and non condensable gases. Stay tuned.

Welllll it was actually so old it instantly melted when we tried to braze the leaks as you can see. I guess now I'm in the market to find a new condenser. Gonna make a thread hopefully someone has a good one they're willing to part with.

Please don't spray those back seats man. Red interior is very rare (ESPECIALLY in this condition)....not to mention how rare rear seats are. If you really don't like the red, just wait around for a black set to come around, buy it, and sell yours.....I would put money on you making out on the deal. You're interior looks fantastic. Someone on here would probably pay handsomely for it.

**Edit** not to mention, dying leathers from this era of manufacturing never ends up looking nice for long it seems.

FFS, don't paint the seats black!!! If you want black seats, sell the red ones and buy black ones.

If you do sell them, please let me know. I have red interior on my '93 BB, but my driver's side seat is torn up and I'd rather just replace it instead of having it reupholstered.

All your photobucket pics are dead, btw.
Better upload them somewhere else.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Got super busy and flustered with my build. Keep in mind I have no mechanical knowledge so I was learning as I went. Lost all my power steering fluid, broke an AC pipe, small fire from my battery relocation, had 2 major boost leaks. But thankfully with the help of the members on this forum and Angel motosports in Virginia(seriously they didn't even charge me for 90% of the help they gave me) I'm back up and running and here's a few pics of where I'm at. Thanks for the comments in this thread and the suggestions you guys gave me. I'm going to sit on my interior and exterior through my next deployment(until next September) and I'll think long and hard where I'm going with that. I'm seriously looking at a Veilside fortune. I know there are a lot of people that aren't a fan but it's beautiful in my opinion, and it's after all my ride.

This Friday I'll be having my fuel pump, power FC, and gauges installed and the tuned.

V-Mount Christmas.

Ripped everything out and put the new power steering pipe in after I lost all my fluid.

My ghetto battery relocation that started a fire. Since then it's been covered by a rubber peice and electrically taped up.

After a lot of finagling and knuckle cuts I finally go the radiator in.

Even though Greddy shorted me a intercooler coupler I managed to pick up another one and make it work. I picked up some more today and I'll be replacing the others with black longer couplers so it looks a bit more together.
