Blackadde/// 07-08-10 12:15 AM

Thanks everyone... I still have no idea what color I want to paint the car... hmmm
I'm stuck between balloon white, midnight purple, and some custom black.

Battle Cat 07-08-10 01:12 AM

got pics of the custom black and the purple??

i was going to do nsx purple... but ended up going with Alpine white in the end lol

Narfle 07-08-10 02:04 AM

Paint it white

Spirit Rx-7 07-08-10 04:19 AM

black! since its project blackadde!

Blackadde/// 07-08-10 09:52 AM

here's the midnight purple.. this is my buddie rickys G35 on bags.
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...23554_7155.jpg

balloon white
http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...l/IMG_1293.jpg

custom black would be the nissan gtr opal black, with a touch more jet black/pearl in it.

http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...slaunch-36.jpg

mefarri 07-08-10 10:37 AM

Is that midnight purple a custom color?

KKMpunkrock2011 07-08-10 12:37 PM

pearly white or either that purple or that gtr black

Battle Cat 07-08-10 01:31 PM

those are all great... i guess it comes down to which color youll be love over all in the end..

KaiFD3S 07-08-10 02:08 PM

Being in California where it get's preety hot I would paint it white, if you paint it a dark color your car will just absorb the heat and it will be like an oven in there. Now if you go white it will reflect the heat and be not so hot in there...My.02 cents.

Prometheus 07-08-10 02:19 PM

SupaStarBruce has the purple FD locked down already in SoCal.

That black isn't really black, but it sure is nice.

White is where it's at if you want to play it safe, I just hope that's not the case.

Go wild man, let the outside reflect the inside.

vetteracer79 07-08-10 02:34 PM

IMO If ur gonna go white.... Go the TVR Pearl White with the blue hue. It comes on the speed six and the speed 12's. Cant remember the exact color. The name doesnt have white in it at all i think tho. Its like opel frost or something. Its in the GT3 game.

vetteracer79 07-08-10 02:49 PM

Crystal Topaz Pearlescent. With a little less blue

Battle Cat 07-08-10 02:53 PM

imstillonjava(carol) has her purple fd down here too...

but every one has a diff looking fd... honestly go with your gut feeling on this one...

I do love the blackish purple though :) or white

Dysfnctnl85 07-13-10 07:24 PM

It's awesome following this build. Besides noticing that there are some other BMW guys on here (my M5 is my DD), it's nice to see a from-the-ground-up build.

Could you go into more detail about how you prepped the chassis -- I imagine putting mine on a rotisserie and media-blasting it inside and out!

I'm going to build an FD touring chassis to transplant my FB setup someday...after my house is done and my girlfriend has the ring she's been wanting...

Keep the updates coming!

Blackadde/// 08-11-10 09:45 PM

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I only posted this build thread on here because we all share a common interest; love for all things rotary & FD's!!!!

Dysfnctnl85, thank you for your praise. She did go onto a rotisserie when she got blasted. I'm waiting for some special rustproof paint to come in for the undercarriage & some sound-deadening paint for the interior, and then she'll be back on the rotisserie. I'll have a whole post on that step once its finished.

A big THANK YOU to A-Spec Tuning ( Sean & Ryan ) for all their help, and excellent customer service. I was on the phone with sean for at least 1 hour every time I called, just bullshitting about life and rotaries. Before actually speaking to him I could have sworn he had 30 employees, only to find out its really just him and 2-3 other guys who aren't even there all the time. Sean really busts his ass to make all these kits for us, and he's the one doing the fab work. We should give him a big thanks, and try to be more patient when waiting on his kits because we're lucky to have him around.

Now, onto the sexyness.... GTX4294R 1.00 A/R

Tits!

KaiFD3S 08-12-10 12:40 AM

Wow Michael, how much power are you planning to put down?

Blackadde/// 08-12-10 01:54 AM

Favian, don't get me excited. lol

Jan, I'd be happy with around 600rwhp. I don't have anything balanced in my motor, nor do I have those fancy ceramic apex seals, so I need to do more research to see what kind of power I can push with what motor work I do have done. :bigthumb:

Enrique909 08-12-10 08:58 PM

What do you do for a living?
How much have you spent so far?

StealthFox 08-14-10 05:36 AM

nice

ptrhahn 08-14-10 08:30 AM

I'd vote for the "balloon white" on that Supra... is that the metallic Toyota white? Toyota has one that is better than most, because the metallic doesn't turn the white off-white (like pearl), it's still bright white.

White FD w/ black wheels is just about perfect IMO. I'd stay away from purple.

Blackadde/// 08-20-10 03:21 PM

@ptrhahn: Its ballon white from a lambo... I'm throwing around some color choices... white on black has been done....but your right, it looks sick

Picked up a '99 528i... got a pretty good deal on it, has a blown head gasket, but the price was right.
I'm going to try and flip it and make some cash. I still have my 325i as well, which is getting a new m3 front bumper.
This pic was taken @ the current owners house. I'll get pics of them together in the driveway with the FD when she gets back from being worked on.
She'll be getting a new waterpump & radiator to go along with the new headgasket to take care of the previous owners overheating issues.
I'll also probably be putting the Style 5 wheels on the 3 series. :icon_tup:

KKMpunkrock2011 08-20-10 04:27 PM

I want those style 5's for my bimmer!

DtX Oreo 08-20-10 11:36 PM

TheAbsence 12-28-10 05:27 PM

Wow those may be the stiffest spring rates I know of on an FC. Super lightweight too, wow. Are the threads aluminum too?!

Blackadde/// 12-29-10 12:17 AM

It's going on a FD m8. Here's some info.

Wow, Mike! Great build- It's almost like mine. Hey-if you ever want to get rid of any more of your "purple parts" shoot me a pm.-Matt

Super Functions have full aluminum construction and are extremely light.

A good shock can run a high spring rate and not break your back.

Matt, I've been contemplating switching up the accent color, I'll let you know for sure. It'd be nice to see it go to a good home. :icon_tup:

soon, i have the summer rush coming in still so am getting backed up on work finally so trying to be sure i have space for everything. long projects take up a bit of room as i only have half as much space as i used to at the old shop you can imagine it is pretty cramped with 4 cars in the shop most days.

around mid to late summer i should be able to take it in and get started on the conversion. try to get as much of the rest sorted before then so i can have all the bolt ons ready to reassemble. it will take a bit of time reassembling the car from scratch, i never expected it to turn into a real ground up buildup from the basic rebuild that it started out as. i don't think you did either, lol.

Funkspectrum 03-11-11 04:31 PM

Goddammit... I guess I need to step it up now too.

:suspect:

Blackadde/// 03-14-11 05:47 PM

Ben, I think you're right. lol I'm going to try and simplify it as much as possible. No P/S or A/C... that should help a bit.

Nader, just go 4 rotor bro. haha

Do either of you talk to the other Mike from sac with the RX3?

I haven't talked to Mike in a while...

Looking for some feedback on a dogbox. Does anyone know if PPG makes one for the FD?
Edit, looking to eventually track the car, no 1/4 mile stuff here.
