Well a quick phone call to a customer asking if they wouldn't mind removing a boost solenoid to help out a fellow customer in need wouldn't hurt.

If the shop does that it would not be shady.

I know that if I had my car at a shop and the shop employee/owner called me and explained..

Shop: hey man, we have a car here with a bad boost solenoid and the owner drove from NJ to get the car tuned. Can we borrow your boost solenoid for the day to help him out?

Me: No problem.

There now you would have a tuned car making more than 300WHP.

And everybody would be happy. I really cant believe a shop would not even have a simple threeway solenoid to put on the car. ****, I have 2 laying around in my closet. You want me to send you one? Did you even try to locate one locally?

Like I said, lame excuse

Thats a shaddy shop if they do that.

^ Sir, you need to go back to school for some reading comprehension fool!

Let me break it down for you; he did not bring his 14 psi. wg spring so I am assuming the boost was lower than that by a few psi. Got it? Lol

sure i guess youre right. its an old greddy profec b so i think it will be hard just to get the solenoid since theyre discontinued. im looking at the blitz units to replace it then go for another tune..

300whp is on a 10psi wastegate spring. if i was making 300 @ 14psi i would have sold the car before i made it home.............

Fiddlesticks. Bummer about the solenoid. When's the next tune gonna be?

300whp off of only 10 psi is not bad. It looks pretty promising for the next tune, when things hopefully works right.

im not too sure yet. idk if i want to try squeezing it in before or after deals.... 300@10psi isnt bad but when you dump a putts load of money to achieve that thats when it sucks. considering i could have done that with the stock twins. but then again im no where near my efficiency range for the turbo. I THINK i kinda wish i had gotten a smaller turbo. we'll see

Because PA is far and i didnt feel like driving both ways, hahaha

lol yeah it can be. especially when you own a rotary........

Today sucked. i tried fitting my seat in (pole position) and what a nightmare.

My set up:
Recaro Pole Position
Momo seat brackets
Stock rails/sliders
>Make custom bracket to mount everything together.

Problem #1
bolted seat brackets to seat and dry fit to see where i was at... Doesnt even fit. the width of the seat + bracket was about 19" between the tranny tunnel and door lip you really only have about 17.5" to play with.

Solution #1
ditch the momo brackets and make straight 90* brackets instead of the indentation the momo's/recaro mounts have.

Problem #2
Seat Fits but is about 2 inches off center (seat is closer to the door)

Problem #3
cant move seat over to the center because the bracket hits trans tunnel.

Solution #2 & 3
hack up the momo brackets. the bracket on the door side is facing the correct way. the bracket on the inside (trans tunnel) is reverse so it angles under the seat and allows more clearance.

Seat can be positioned centered now. BUT since i sit VERY close to the wheel the side of the seat rubs the center console a bit.

I have about an 1.25" clearance from the "side bolster wing" to the door card.

still need to weld the bracket to the slides, finish up final welds (currently spot welded) and then paint.

So recaro pole positions fit but require HEAVY modification.

That sucks man. At least you have the welding skills to make it work yourself. I went through 4 sets of rails to make my recaros fit haha

hey Ben its Dan from garagejournal. Figured since Ive been watching over your build thread here and since you helped me out (to some degree) I might as well sign up and post on your thread.

First and foremost I must say you guys have a pretty cool site. I dont plan on buying a Rotary car any time in the near future but I have enjoyed reading over Ben's thread as well as other threads on here.

I got the chance to meet Ben about a week or two ago because he offered to help me out with some machine work. If you havent had the chance to meet Ben in person he really is a nice/good guy to get to know.

back to the topic of the build....

Maybe I didnt get a good look at the ride hight of your car... How much lower can you go with that thing?!?!?!? I coulda swore from memory that getting my fingers in between the top of the tire and inside of the fender would be impossible!!

As far as you modding brackets for the seats.. Ive heard of guys modding brackets and one thing you may or may not realize is when you're adding brackets on top of exsisting brackets the seats will be that much higher. Some people dont realize that... Just thought I'd pass along the info.

If you ever come up to visit me don't even bother to drive up the driveway. You'll never make it! Either park on the street or give me a heads up. I have long/wide pieces of wood I use to get my firebird outta the driveway. If those boards can take the weight of a firebird then I think they should hold the weight of your RX-7.

Back to your regular scheduled programing.

-I dont actually want the car lower, but i want it to look lower. I would have achieved that if the skirts cleared the front tires.

Yes ive realized that, i didnt buy seats like most do for added head room. The sunroof-less models have more head room plus im not that tall so im okay.

ohh eff you. ahaha which brides? I believe the brides are a lot more narrow. i fit very comfortably in the pole positions. the brides are more like the SPG's and they are TIGHT. when i tested it out it huged my hips enough when i got up the seat stuck a little

my slider rails... the side closest to the trans tunnel is welded, the outside one is bolted in

(notice the little rod extender i have at the end- this is because i have a roll bar. When i get in and out of the car i slide the seat back, that rod hits the roll bar to stop the seat travel thus the back of the FG seat wont hit. it is capped off with a rubber piece of adhesive typically used for bottom of chair legs)

trans tunnel side- noticed how i reversed the mount so i could slide it another .5" in more

bolted side

fml. didnt think how i was going to mount the harness. shoulders will be attached to the roll bar, for the sub belt the back of the rail MIGHT be okay, still looking into it. no idea how i will mount the waist belts... i might need to weld some more attachments to the rails...

This is the key to fitting Recaros. Bride, Nagisa and Atomic Rex rails have the mount the normal way on the tunnel side. The actual Recaro rails have no bend on the tunnel side which give them extra clearance to keep the seat off the door.

Seat looks great man!

What else has to be done before next Thursday?

lol what else....... nothing to get to deals. but how i want it?

pick up engine bay parts from powder coated and install (didnt have time to pc myself)
IF the paint shop gets my paint code, i somehow have to squeeze time out to paint my roll bar
figure out how to mount the harness
vinyl front bumper, rear bumper, 99 lip, fender vents and side skirts if i have enough
vinyl the interior plastics
wire up boost gauge
wire up oil temp gauge
finish wiring for head unit
Tune

wishful thinking
make a sub box
get a new windshield
make pass side foot rest

on top of that my semester ends this month and i have a crazy project i have to finish. so i have to do work in compensation for the time im going to miss. on top of that im trying to make decals for phil for DGRR
