Brian's 93 Touring build/SSM

So I picked up this car June of this year to replace my 05 evo that I have been autocrossing in SM. I wanted to make to move to Rwd to get away from relaying on the awd for some of my bad driving habits.

The day I picked up the car. 93 with 30k miles

05 evo that was replaced by the FD the Typhoon is in the middle of an l33 swap with a 7675. goal is 1000hp and mid to low 9s

I will keep updating this build as I get time and parts installed

Thumbs up

Nice man, clean FD!
Also, I love the TY! I've been wanting one of those for years!
Just haven't pulled the trigger on one yet.

Autocross tires. 295/30/18 square

Had Ohlins on my evo and loved them. So FD is getting them. But they won’t go on tell after my first autocross. Want to autocross on the stock suspension first. That way I can see the change

Autocross wheels. 18x11 +45offset. Going to take a little work to fit but should work.

Efr7670. I got the whole Turblown kit with heat shields. Was was going to stick with the stock twins but after driving the car for the summer, I don’t like the change in power mid corner when the 2nd turbo kicks in.

Nice car.

Yes, the twins suck with the stock ECU. Power FC and a few software/plumbing tweaks it is much nicer - smooth and consistent. What is your target SCCA class?

What wheels? They look good.

Wow... those tires are meaty! Fair warning... If you autocross on those 295's on stock suspension you will likely damage your front fenders. Camber settings?

SSM is the class I will be running in.
wheels are forgestar f14s
I have an adaptronic ecu waiting to go in when I install the turbo and fuel system.
Autocross wheels and tires will not be run on stock suspension. The plan is to autocross the car on stock suspension and stock wheels. Then swap to my street tire/ wheel setup and redo the alignment. Then next will be to install then coilovers and autocross wheel/tire setup and do an alignment again.
Just want to make small changes. fenders are already rolled. Just need to pull the fronts. Will do that this winter. Install the ohlins with out the springs so we can cycle the suspension to make sure everything clears.
Then my friend is going to start designing some new suspension part this winter. His company is SSB designs. He does billet suspension parts for evo’s.
his car is running all his parts. The car has now won Street mod national championship 2 years in a row now.
I guess he has been asked to make some FD parts. So it just worked out that I picked up a bone stock one for him to 3D scan. Win win in my book.

Maybe I'm low class, but I honestly like the look of the Rota Grids better than the nicer wheels. Where did you get them? And specifically which model Rota Grid are they? On their website almost all models are 4 lug or 6 lug (for offroad or trucks).

^ Look wise the Rota Grid is just a copy of Volks TE37, so you are really comparing Volks and Forgestars

OP, very clean FD, looks like a very good starting point.

EFR 7670 IWG dyno result, car is a 94 FD built for autocross. The car was tuned for high boost with 110 race gas. Boost at 17psi, it bled to 15 psi at high RPM.

-Turblown EFR 7670 IWG kit with 3" downpipe, new cast shorty turbo manifold
-small street-port
-stock 550 primaries and 1600 secondaries
-stock coils with twin power
-NGK race plugs 105
-Greddy stock mount intercooler
-Custom 3.5" titanium exhaust with 22" Burns Stainless 6" size muffler
Do a search for EFR 7670 IWG Dyno. My post has the attached dyno chart. The above is a quote from my reponse to Turblown's post. On the Dyno Dynamics dyno, the car made 405 hp and 370 ft/lbs torque on race gas and 365 hp on pump gas at 10psi. The torque curve was pretty flat and usable from 3000-8000 rpm. I have 4.77 rear-end and the turbo spool is super quick and it pulls all the way to redline! I still have the original medium cannister wastegate on the EFR, so there is still potential for more power and response with an aftermarket wastegate.

The post you want is, EFR 7670 IWG dyno results dated 4/1/16. Also, I have lots of set-up information for the FD in autocross/ SSM class if you want to chat.

Got some time to install my Cobra seats. I used garage star brackets. Not a huge fan. The seat is as far back as it will go for the lean setting I have it set at.

they are my arrive and drive setup. Once I get a better feel for the car, I will switch to some Hoosiers.
Let see I’m 40 now and have been driving turbo awd since I was 16. So 24 years of some bad driving habits because of relying on awd.

This is going to be me after driving a DSG Golf R for 2 years and not owning an FD for 4 years. I'm going to have to re-learn EVERYTHING.
