We'll have to meet up for a rotary cruise soon👍

with the interior pieces currenntly removed, I am to embarrassed to take her out in public. Lol. As soon as the AC system is working with the microtech I will be putting in brand new plastics. I will setup a cruise and meet then.

What about Sebring this coming weekend? Will there be any FD's there?

A little something

A JP3 brake booster line reroute is just a little something that appeared to clean up the engine bay. This little reroute eliminated the need to run this vacuum line all the way to the intake. I am not sponsored but I always like to thank those vendors who keep producing aftermarket parts for these cars. Thank you JP3.

Looks much better and simpler! The brake booster line and throttle cable was really optimised for RHD and just "made work" for LHD wasn't it. I'm surprised Mazda didn't make nicer solutions for LHD cars considering how many were made.

Yes you are correct. If you look at a rhd fd the brake master cylinder is on, what would be right side of a USDM. With the master cylinder located there the vacuum line has a short route to the intake manifold. On the USDM they ran the vacuum line to the same location but the brake master cylinder is on the left side of the car. The JP3 is a great solution by just hooking up the intake near the throttle body. A much shorter route leads to a cleaner look.

Thank you EstevanEsi am looking at a few more items to buy from them. I like a well sorted Fd. There is still a lot of work to do. Many more things to come for this build. Some performance, some cosmetics and some just focused on street friendly. My car was a oem street car but in the early 90s went more the direction of race car. Now I am trying to balance the car for all of the above. If I really think of it i.am trying to build a mazda 911. Lol

While I was under the hood I figured I would do a little house keeping. I have learned over the years that when you remove parts it is always a good practice to do some cleaning. I love brake cleaner for cleaning purposes. Just make sure you never spray it on paint. My buddy Joey came through again with a nice little bracket for my brake portion valve. I also went ahead and installed the hoses for my windshield wipers. When I had a custom fiberglass hood put on all the hoses were removed and never used again. I feel like I made modifications to the car without thinking it all the way out. I am enjoying my car much more now than then. Fixing those mistakes really improves the drivability. A lot more to come soon. Until then brap on rotards

I think it's all looking awesome and I agree with the cleaning up.... maybe I can see you at the next rotary meet.

For sure brother. I am working hard on getting the AC system to work with the Microtech. I hope to get that squared away this week. Once that is a done deal next will be installing all my new plastics. I plan on running the car with no head unit. In place of the head unit will be some egt gauges and the car will run pandora via blue tooth on my phone. This will allow room for gauges and I wont have to add wieght to the cer. I have a brand new never installed double din, blue tooth kenwood radio that will be sold. The original plan was to put it in my car but I have changed direction.

Track focus modification

I am constantly learning more and more about what it takes to build a well sorted FD. In the past I often over looked some important engineering things that made the rx7 so great. The first time I went single turbo many things that were important were eliminated. I was a little naive and was highly influenced by people that built rotary drag racing cars. In my area drag racing is very popular. Most these drag racing cars do I quater mile run
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...b2be423103.jpg

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c6ad84e3be.jpg
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...6c549ab60a.jpg
and then they are turned off and left to cool as they wait for the next pass. Things like cooling, brakes and suspension are often over looked. Drag racing is cool but I wanted to build something a little different. Something that can perform well in hot Fl weather and also on a proper roadcourse. One of the things removed from my car was the air pump. What I failed to realize is that now the belt for the water pump was barely touching the water pump pulley. Driving around the street was never a problem but this car will eventually hit the track. There is no room for an Fd to not have proper cooling on a track day. Hot motor means new motor period. I installed this pineapple pulley to remedy this problem.

Testrun 03-28-21 06:40 AM

Man this is looking awesome. I like that shorty cable!! I will look into that one.

As for the pulley I am still debating. One part of me says go for it. The other part says it is just another point of failure. I forgot which radiator you have. I know with the Vmount your running cool. Is this overkill?? Let me know. I am running very cool with my N-FLO. Not sure what to think with this mod yet.

Jp3 shorty cable seems to be on high demand. I had to wait to buy it since it was sold out. It appears to be sold out once again. The pineapple pulley is another fail point but I have not heard any negative results from the pulley. I like that it assist the belt in wrapping around the water pump pulley just like the air pump did when the car was designed. I hope not to have any trouble. It does look pretty well made and pineapple rscing has a good reputation.

What changed in the newer 3rd brake light?

Nothing changed as far as the light itself. Both lights are the same but my old one had a few stress cracks in it. I actually cleaned up pretty well but the newer rear light had no scratches at all.
