TX 1994 Chaste White Restoration Thread

This week I'm picking up a 1994 Chaste White RX-7 with 79,000 miles. This poor thing has had cosmetic work done to it that I'll reverse. The goal is to put the car back to OEM specs and either keep it or sell it on Bring a Trailer. The car currently doesn't run and the supposed issue is a wiring harness, according to the seller's conversation with Rotary Performance in Garland. I haven't picked it up yet so I cannot confirm. Pickup will likely be today or tomorrow.

I have a Brilliant Black 1994 FD right now with an LS2 and 76k original miles (follow me on IG: @LOL13B). So while I'd like to keep both FDs, I don't necessarily need to. We'll see what happens.

This is my 7th FD and if you follow me on Facebook (I'm in the No Rotors group and RX7 group), you've seen the FDs I've had this year and last. The one that got away was a '93 with 73k miles, Montego blue with tan leather. My favorite.

For now, I'm in need of:

- Stock front bumper
- Stock wheels
- A shop local to Fort Worth who knows rotary engines (I'd rather not tow it to Garland)
- A paint job to get it back to Chaste White

I will be selling the 99 spec front bumper, 99 spec spoiler (not OEM), spare hood, and spare hatch the seller is including with the car. DM me for prices on those.

This thread will document me bringing the car back to its original form. I hope you enjoy.

The car appears to be clean and straight and well worthy of a restoration! Its nice to hear that you will be putting it back to a stock look. I love these cars in their original form. An absolute timeless classic! Will look forward to hearing what happens with the car and will look forward to seeing pictures of the car when you get it!

Right? Such amazing cars. This one is very straight. Two owners ago molded the fenders into the body panel so it will take some work correcting but once that's complete, it should be smooth sailing from there.

Today was an exciting day! I picked up my 7th FD (currently own 2 now - my other is a 94 LS2 FD). I took my two kiddos with me and we loaded it up and took 'er home.

I immediately took all the spare parts out and stashed them away in my little ole one car garage with my other FD. Since it's almost Christmas, I don't know if I'll be able to get the car into a shop so we may have to wait for any update.

Nonetheless, it's exciting to have it and I hope I can begin restoring right away. That's all for now.

With Christmas coming up fast and a vacation around the corner right after that, I wanted to get the car looked at ASAP so I could know what was going on with the motor. I called Rotary Performance in Garland which is an hour away from my house. I spoke with Dave and explained what was going on with the car and asked if he'd be able to look at it and he graciously accepted pending me getting it there in time for him to leave at 1:30. So I hauled butt to Garland and he worked on the FD on the Uhaul trailer, haha.

The problem ended up being bad plugs, bad gas, and a fuel pump that needs replacing. He changed the plugs and diagnosed the issue basically by hearing the sound the engine was making when it was trying to turn over and by smelling the spark plug. I was impressed! We also ran a compression test to make sure the motor was strong and it is! Dave said, of course it was due to him rebuilding the motor back in 2013.

After about an hour of work, the car was running and a plan will be put in place to fix the issues to get it running smooth. For now, it's at home and cleaned up, for the most part. I'll have to wait until after the new year to do anything more with it.
