myturbo88 / Jamal Purches / Rdarby BEWARE
I have a customer that was in need of a replacement throttle body so I posted a WTB thread in the 2nd gen parts for sale section. The forum member myturbo88 responded saying he has a good one for sale. He was asking $65. I offered him $50 which I believe was fair, because newer fd throttle bodies don't usually even sell for $65.
We agreed on the price as I sent him a payment through paypal. Shortly after I followed up to verify if the payment was received. Jamal responded yes, and that it would ship out some time that week. I responded saying that I needed it ASAP because I had a customer waiting on the part, and offered to send additional money for shipping if needed. I received no response for several days so again I followed up. Jamal said that he believes it shipped but has to check with his friend who supposedly shipped it. I again replied to please let me know as soon as possible. 2 weeks passed and I received no parts. I again followed up and was told by Jamal that he would find out asap. I again reminded him that its been 2 weeks and I have an impatient customer waiting for the part. Jamal replied that the customer issue is out of his control and that I only payed him $50 when he originally wanted $65. Now I don't care where you are in the United States, but it should not take 2 weeks to ship a part. I also do not care if he wasn't happy with the price I payed him for the throttle body, as that is what we agreed upon and is no excuse for delayed shipping. Its been 3 weeks since I sent payment and no part. I also have not been updated by Jamal nor has he returned my last emails. It is sad that there are losers out there that are so pathetic that they would rip someone off for pocket change. I have never even thought about ripping anyone off in my life. Take this as a warning not to deal with this individual. |

FYI: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/member.php?u=77806 I would post on his message board thing so other people can see. |
Seriously...WTF is that! If you agree to a price, it shouldn't make a damn difference what you *wanted*.
|
Seller refunded my money randomly without saying a word. I appreciate it but I could have had the part I ended long ago.
|
I recently ordered from this guy, surprisingly enough, the items shipped to me as requested. He even threw in a trailing coil bracket piece for free.
I will say this though, I had to ask MULTIPLE times for an image text of both the shipping label w/tracking number. Never got it, instead, he sent an image of the side of the USPS medium size box containing my order and a second image of some random item he was shipping to another customer. After reading the reviews and doing a Google search of his name, I'm skeptical and have learned a lesson. Never get too lax when ordering parts via forum members...check ALL history. |

I bought a set of rotor housings from him during the summer forgetting about my first transaction with him. Ended up being complete trash. I did eventually get a refund.

I had no idea of this guy's trading history as he didn't contact me through the forum but responded directly to my WTB add via email. It was only once I had paid my money and was having difficulties with communications that I looked up the email address and found this info. It made very nervous reading this feedback, but I am pleased to say that I got my item in the end and it was in very good condition. But it took him far too long to send the package and communications were generally terrible. Despite numerous requests, I never got photos of the product before it was sent. I had to repeatedly follow up for the tracking number and when I finally got it, it was apparent that the item was only sent that day - not when he said he had sent it several weeks before. Lesson for those placing WTB ads - make sure the person is actually a reputable member of this forum! |

Best to have people respond in your WTB ad publicly if they don't have 'street cred.' |

Looks like I also am potentially a victim of this guy and my own lack of cautiousness. We'll see how the transaction goes, I'll try to remember to post back.
I didn't catch this until I sent a fairly decent sized payment to the guy via paypal and the name I was given and the name on the paypal statement were completely different and shared no resemblance. RX7club username Rdarby, name he gave me was Royce Darby. Paypal email turned out to be our friend Jamal. |
I bought a battery harness from him, after it finally being shipped, he asked me to send him more money because he sent me a fuse block along with it.
|
He is a piece of shit, I recently got refunded my money for an intermediate housing I bought from him. Well I can say I did not loose all the money.
|
Well, he now has zero ability to view any of the Classifieds section. If you'd like to contact me via PM Jamal, I have an open door policy. Until that time, I'm going to do all in my power to prohibit your activities as described in this thread.
|
What a surprise to see this guy's name here. I used to organize his shit and do a lot of work for him. He did me well with suppling parts but after I moved he screwed me over. Multiple times I delt with his issues and help him send his shit out. He did many people wrong. He is a special peice of work! Suggest not to do business with him.
|
I received everything as promised from Rdarby on time with no hassles. Royce may be a affiliated with Jamal but I can't say I had any issues.

Lesson for those placing WTB ads - make sure the person is actually a reputable member of this forum! he responded to my wtb ad (intrax springs and manual rack) but thru text he did send pictures though and fair enough he waited for me to able to send the money since i had to re-do my paypal account. once i sent him the money( 5/11/16) i gave him the address to my work so he can ship it there. I lost his number due to my phone taking a dump but managed to find his e-mail and his number on this thread, i emailed and texted him from my brothers phone asking if he shipped my parts and if he can give me the tracking number, he said he did ship it but did not give me a tracking number, i repeatedly asked for the tracking number and he said he was gonna send a pic of the numbers, so far this was yesterday and yet i have not received a tracking number nor pics of it. i texted him again today but no response, they are delayed sometimes. |
Wow. I'm going to take care of this one for good.......
|
Not taken care of lol
He text me about a request for mirrors. Paid $65. Took a long time and repeated asking to get a tracking. He made it today when asked again. We'll see if I get them and the quality they're in. |
As some of you may know I've been in the FC parts game since like 1999 and I was on this forum right when it started, before the forum hack that deleted a lot of accounts etc.
I've known this guy since way back then. He was in Maine if memory serves but moved to Michigan at some point. My first personal dealing with him was when I was working on a friend's car who needed some parts, this was probably in 2001-2. My friend buys parts from Jamal. I dont remember the specifics but basically it took weeks of hounding and public posting to get this guy to send the parts. I think eventually he did satisfy the majority of the deal as agreed but it really wasn't worth it in the end. Over the years I basically heard this same story over and over again when he would pop back up and sell for a little while. Vague postings, no pics of the parts, poor communication, slow shipping. People would complain and he'd disappear for a while. A couple of times in the past few years he has contacted me directly to offer me parts. I usually shy away but I tell him that I will buy if he is willing to send me the parts up front for me to inspect and be sure I get them in a timely manner, and I will pay him afterward. To my surprise, sure enough, he's gone along with it. I think the last time this happened was a couple years ago. He just sent me a text out of the blue, I asked who it was, he told me. Sold me some engine rotor housings from an FC. They showed up within a week and were in pretty decent condition just like he said. I paid him and that was that. To be honest my impression of him is not that he is an outright scammer, but just a lazy businessman with poor communication and logicstical skills. Or it could be that he tries to get by with as much as he thinks he can but does just enough not to be actively pursued. I just know I would never send the guy money up front and expect to get parts as described in a timely manner. |
^Thanks for the info Kevin. Having said that, he's been banned :icon_tup:

Items received. They were in good shape. I agree with RotaryRes, just seemed to have a lack of f**ks to give. I'd personally would go in a different direction if able to.

And now you'll be able to :)

I bought a set of FD-dowel S5 TII irons from this joker last year. I posted a WTB thread and he emailed me directly with his phone number. He sent my some photos that looked decent and I paid him a fair price shipped to me. As soon as he got them money, he fell off the face of the earth. I finally got confirmation that he had shipped them but he wouldn't give me a tracking number. After 2 weeks he "finds" the tracking number that was printed that day...
I ended up getting decent parts for a decent price, but the pain in the ass of having to constantly hound him and the fear of getting scammed was not wort hit. Best part of the story, I reverse-googled the photos he sent me and he stole them directly from RotaryResurrection.com! |

Rxdash713b tried selling me a first gen dash. He seemed really fishy. I sent him this message, "You are new to the forum and have made zero posts. I wont buy anything from a new member."
|
Update. I had another bizarre, but successful I guess, transaction with Jamal.
recently I posted a WTB thread for FC 89-91 engine front counter weights. According to my measurements, these weights are 0.915" thickness. I should also note that I had plenty of 86-88 weights which are more common, and those are >1" thickness. I posted this information in my WTB thread. Off the forum I get a message from Jamal offering s5 counterweights and asking if I want to buy, I tell him that I will with the usual deal that he has to send them to me first. I reiterate the thickness that needs to be confirmed. He assures me that they are correct. HE asks how many I need, I tell him I can use several and ask how many he has available, to which he just asks how many I need again, so I throw out 10. He then sends me pics of some in a stack. Some of the pics appear to be the thicker versions, so again I ask to confirm that they are all <1" thickness because some in the pics look questionable. But of course you can't tell a thing like that for sure from pics and he says they are right, so I tell him to send them. We agree that I'll pay a set amount once they arrive and I've inspected them, $25 each which is on the higher end of what I wanted to pay, but fair enough if they are all correct. He sends them out the next day and sends tracking. The day they are to be delivered is a saturday, and he's already sent me emails that morning asking me if I have them and when I will pay. I reply that they haven't arrived, and I've left the shop for the weekend by mid afternoon. By Monday mid-morning I have numerous more emails telling me 1) they should be delivered soon, 2) they have been delivered, (those were from later saturday) and 3) when will I pay for them. I get a couple more emails while I am still reading through other stuff that morning again asking for payment and telling me that he's checked his paypal and doesnt see a payment. So I open the box and immediately I can see that most of these are not what I need. He's sent 9, not 10. I ask what happened and he said the 10th "must be in his car if the box didnt look like it was opened". Okay, whatever, I dont really care how many I get, but that's a pretty lame excuse. Of the 9, 2 measure the correct thickness. 6 are the 86-88 >1" thickness that I cannot use and did not need, and of those 6, 1 looks like it came from the titanic. The last 1 is kind of an oddball in-between thickness that I'm unsure of, but I gave the benefit of the doubt on that one. I asked him what the deal was with sending the wrong sizes and he really wouldn't give a straight answer. Later he mentioned something about having to estimate the thickness...even a simple measuring tape would have differentiated the ones I needed from the ones I didn't. I asked what he wanted to do about the wrong ones and he never really said for sure. In the middle of this he is also trying to sell me other random parts and sending me pics of those parts and telling me "dont send them back yet in case you want to buy more parts" which again really made no sense to me. I wound up paying him for the 3 (2 correct and 1 questionable) plus shipping at the agreed prices, and that was the end of it. I decided not to buy any of the other parts he was offering just to be done with the deal for now. The 6 wrong weights are still sitting on my shelf abandoned. |
This guy has been banned from the forum an incredible number of times under different names. Can his ip not be blocked completely?
|
It's easy enough to get around IP blocks, I did it for a number of years myself.

Jamal Purches, currently calling himself Azteclance on this forum, is a bizarre guy who I had 2 transactions with recently, and I won't do business with him again. I replied to a FS post about FB parts. Before the OP responded Jamal PM'd me asking what I needed. I looked at his profile and he had exactly 10 posts, in one day, then stopped posting. Pretty spammy. But Gosh Damnnit he had what I wanted, and GSL-SE parts are getting hard to find.
He was very weird to text with. He wouldn't answer me directly, and if I asked for a picture of a specific part he would first send a random pic, then Maybe send a pic of the part I wanted, if I asked 4 or 5 times. Example - I wanted SE brake parts - a splitter block for the rear axle and a proportioning block for the front by the master. He said he had them on a GSL-SE and would send them promptly. I asked for pics and he sent pics of a prop block and a coil spring. ??? No, I don't want a spring, I want a splitter block. He sends a pic of a rear end but I can't see the block. "Can you please send a pic of the splitter block?" He sends a pic of a USPS box with my name and address on it. Says it's all packed u and I'll be happy with the quality. I pay. Pack arrives and the proportioning valve body is just as pictured and in nice shape. The brake line splitter block is rusted beyond usability, and is trash. Boo Mr Spammer. He texts me and asks if I need any more SE parts. I do. I've been looking for a SE spare tire (the wheel actually, I'll replace the tire). He has one. I ask for a picture of the SE and he sends one. I ask for a pic of the right front fender and a few minutes later he sends it. Hmm, maybe he is legit. He sends a pic of the spare and it looks okay. I ask for a pic of the underside and he says he has left the storage facility but the underside is in good shape, like the top. I pay. 10 days later I text him and ask where the tire is. He says he hasn't shipped it yet because he hasn't had a chance to paint it for me. "NO NO NO don't repaint it. I will repaint if needed".. He says okay, and ships that day. Wheel arrives and it is half rust, half silver spray paint. I don't know if it will be worth media blasting and repainting it's so rough. Long story short, this guy sent the parts I paid for, but misrepresented the quality and was a weirdo to deal with. Buyer beware. |

Well said. I don't think the guy is a criminal, because he did end up sending all the parts I paid him for. But I wouldn't have bought most of it if I'd seen good pictures. He's calling and texting me now, since reading my critique of the transactions. All I can say is I would not recommend doing business with him. I have been selling on ebay for many years with a 100% feedback, and this fellow definitely leaves something to be desired. I didn't know his history of sales and multiple bannings until after the fact.

Jamal Purches aka Vhx Kudasai on facebook
Buyer beware
Jamal Purches is operating under the screen name of VHX Kudasai On Facebook. He lives in Flint, MIchigan I purchased a 1313 stamped brake caliper from him and when I got the part the piston was seized rock solid. I messaged him in regard to a refund and he sent me a new brake caliper free of charge fast forward 1 month and he messages me out of the blue asking for me to return the broken/seized caliper at my expense. We go back and forth about how I refuse to pay return shipping when he sent me a faulty part. we agree on a full refund and I send the parts back. He pays return shipping and I get refunded after the package gets mailed. All is is well In the world but this guy is a major headache and I would avoid anyone doing business with him in the future. He has most definitely drank the contaminated water |
Dont feel bad, I still have those 6 abandoned counterweights on the shelf. I'll probably throw them out in the scrap pile the next time I do a haul to the crusher.
|
That's good to know, that user name has responded to most my wtb ads on Facebook and luckely have not bought anything from him
thanks!! |
Think he's now using username Trackdiaz. Private messaged me about burgandy center arm rest I posted as a wanted item. PayPal address is chuckproto@aol.com
|
If he spent as much time on communication as he does making accounts on this forum, he'd make a good living.
I bought a 4.33 rear from him. Took a bit as the stories go, but it arrived as it should and I opened it up, was just as he said. Crazy shit. |
Hi guys!
Just wanted to let you all know that as of now he is still operating under Vhx Kudasai and selling people junk. Using vexgriot@aol.com on PayPal. I am not an RX-7 owner, but I do have a 1990 CRX that he sold me a 5-speed trans for. It shows up and it’s missing bolts, needs a rebuild, and isn’t even the correct trans. (Was looking for a CRX Si trans which has a quick gear ratio, but he sent me a CRX DX trans which is only worth its weight in scrap.) After days of trying to make things right with him, he still refuses to admit he did anything wrong and won’t refund me. So, despite living in Iowa, I’m taking him to Michigan’s small claims court. He’s not just a lazy businessman, he’s a bonafide scammer for sure. But I also want to say thank you for sharing your experiences in dealing with him, as all of these threads I can find about his shady practices will look wonderful when laminated and sitting in front of a judge. Wish me luck! |
It seems there's quite a few that have had bad transactions with Jamal.
I was too a bit skeptical at first after reading all of these. However, Jamal has become really my go-to guy as far as hard to find OEM parts. I tell him what I need and he gets me pictures that day or the day after. He's usually pretty quick to ship them out afterwards as well. I probably have 10 transactions with him at this point. I've had one issue with an item and he just sent me a different one and then had me ship back the original. However, it wasn't a high dollar part. |
I too have purchased from Jamal multiple times over the years....so far I have never gotten burned. I have something pending with him now, fingers crossed for continued good luck.
I can understand how sometimes the communication is lacking, but I've received a quality/as described part every time. |
Thanks for the heads up. I just about bought a FC drivers side window switch. Something felt a bit off so I googled his name and this popped up first. Close one lol
|
I want to chime in again, after 2 purchases from him, that I don't think he's a bad guy. Not evil or anything. He's just very, very weird and 3 of the 4 very rare parts I bought were in terrible condition and not as described. I would not buy from him again.
|
I just sent him money

I think you'll get your LCA's, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were in bad shape. Like, rusty with totally rotted bushings, and maybe a dripping wet coat of cheap spray paint.
Or maybe they'll be perfect. There's no way to know with this guy. He has a yard full of cars sitting in mud, and he is happy to take off and sell you any part he has. Sounds good if that part is in nice shape, but in my experience..... Most of the parts were in shitty rusty shape. And one had fresh wet spray paint over the rust, so... its been sitting out in the rain for about a year behind the garage. This after he told me everything was very nice. |
