Cooling Mist (Shurflo) pump problems

I installed the basic Cooling Mist kit with the 150 psi pump, and after mounting everything I figured I would test it before installing the nozzle in the charge pipe. I energized the pump, it was humming away, but there was no water coming out of the nozzle.

So I removed the check valve and connected the nozzle straight to the hose. It was spraying, but it seems like a pretty weak stream. Im not sure how atomized the water should be, but this is like a squirt. I was expecting more of a fine mist. Something just doesnt seem right.

My battery is good, any ideas? Is this pump adjustable at all? It should produce 150 psi @ 12V, right?

Also, I only tested with the key on. Would the full 13.5V make a difference?

pressure

There is a pressure adjust **** on the top of the pump. Maybe yours is set low. Mine was only around 100-110psi when I got it. Also you can get a cheap O pressure gauge off of ebay and install it like this.

I have my pump mounted below the reservoir, per coolingmist instructions. I tried playing with the adjustment screw, I got a little more pressure out of it, but it still wont flow through the check valve. Getting a nice mist from the nozzle though...

Anyone using the 250 psi pump? I would imagine my problem would be eliminated with that unit. More atomization from higher pressure...way more flow...right?

And I emailed coolingmist about this, yet to hear from them.

Cool

Sometimes we miss the most obvious.
Have you checked, that the check valve is pointing in the right direction and is not backwards???

tank & pump is not below the tank.

so make sure the pump is below the tank! thats the reason why its humming its because its not climbing enough to get any flow through the nozzle.

give dave a call, hes a really cool guy 888-667-3479
