CDI Systems with Water Injection

Hey guys,

ive got a 12a half bridge T04R Microtech LT10s with the X4 box..

Im looking for a CDI system that i can run on this with a rice racing water injection kit.. I also have a 13bt auto in a early mazda which i would want to use it on when i relocate back to australia from London, UK..

Ive got a mate whos coming to the USA next week so looking at something from JEGS or Summit..

Is there in the Crane or MSD range that may work.. I dont mind if its Leading only CDI or Both...
I want some guidance as ive not used or bought a CDI system before.

Cheers

I use dual crane fireball hi-6 ignition boxes for leading and 4 crane lx-92 coils. It sucks crane is out of business now, maybe you might want to get msd because of that, I'm not sure. Anyways I use this stuff along with the same ecu setup you have and it works well.

rx72c 04-24-10 07:57 PM

DOnt touch either brands with a 10 foot pole. I TOLD YOU to use the DYNATEK UNIT.

dont waste your time with anything else.

Only other brand i would use is the crane units.

I have tested the dynatek units to 9.2:1 fuel mixtures with 650cc of water 25psi of boost and no missfire and only missing around 35hp.

bo0557 04-25-10 01:18 PM

what did you guys run on thelevmans S3 rx7?? Dynatek?

In your experince omar whats the best you think long term for my use and then the 1300 when im back.

Crane or Dynatek?

ronbros3 04-25-10 08:13 PM

my system,, 2 Crane HI6-2 boxes, and 4 Crane LX92 coils, plus a big CDI capacitor, to drive the box cdis.

complete setup was designed and installed at the Crane factory 5yrs ago, in daytona Fl,its a shame they went out of business.
i hope i wont need parts, because thet gettin hard to find NEW, used stuff could be questionable( like burned out)

ronbros3 04-25-10 08:28 PM

Crane factory setup,ignition

1 Attachment(s)
pic of crane setup, iv had no breakup down to afr 9.9-10.
Crane hi6+2 box has 2 cdi in each box, so i have 4 actual cdis, and 4 coils, 10mm wires.
and a Microtech LTX8

rx72c 04-27-10 04:16 PM

Cdi

Yes thelevman using dynatek.

bo0557 04-28-10 03:06 PM

and do you need to run their leads or can i still stick with my 8mm magnecor leads?

rx72c 04-30-10 04:53 PM

You can run any leads you want.

We are using basic 5 dollar each top gun leads on my 700rwhp rx7.

turbotoaster 04-30-10 05:49 PM

did you use the coils from dynatek or a different brand, im looking at all there coils on there website and not sure which is best to choose for 30psi of boost, 900cc of water

thewird 04-30-10 06:57 PM

M&W CDI?

thewird

bo0557 05-01-10 03:28 PM

yeh speaking with the guys at dynatek they said that the HEC Bosch coils with the usual microtech install would be ok.. But they also do offer their own coils..

I think for now ill see how it goes with the coils i got.. I think ill need your assistance omar on the install too if thats cool. Will chat over msn or something.

rx72c 05-01-10 05:11 PM

Damon just get their coils.
The whole kit is cheap as.

You want the single .5 ohm coils.
If you pm me ill do you a good deal. bosch coils are shit house.

bo0557 05-02-10 12:28 PM

yeh nar i got the lot.. The place i got them from just waiting for the coils to come in so they will be sent seperate, a mates getting the unit as his in LA for work this week.:nod:

bo0557 05-02-10 01:09 PM

how come with this forum also in the Auxiliary Injection topic there is like 472 topics but i can only see the front page..

WLD 07 05-02-10 11:39 PM

You need to change the display options at the bottom of the page.

IAN 05-06-10 08:12 PM

I've been using the Autronic 500R. The M&W apparently is the same but half the size. I have had success with it and a noticable improvement over stock. I fire about 400cc's of -40 windsheild washer fluid and it can fire rich mixtures without issue.

Have not really seen anyone run any other ignition setups around here other then thewird once he installs his M&W. Local FD race car that we pit for has put in the M&W but we are running race gas and 18psi. No aux injection. Tuned by CHAG auto in montreal.

a_reyes1014 05-12-10 10:22 PM

I have just installed the accel 300 digital cdi unit on my leading coil and man better than the that huge msd unit I had in there. It's actually the size of the microtech lt10 or maybe smaller. Sucker really sparks hot. Noticeable difference especially on boost after 5000 rpm compared to the msd unit. This on the same tune. The car really needs to be tuned though

bo0557 07-04-10 04:22 PM

So ive installed the ARC2 and CDI and after an hr of driving i could hear the ARC2 box ticking..
I turned the car off and then restarted it and it went away but again 40min later it started doing the same..

Any one have this issue ??

turbotoaster 07-05-10 10:07 AM

can you take some pics of your installation, where you have connected everything up to where its placed in the engine bay.

Should give us some ideas abotu potential issues and for anyone who is gonna install that kit

Its a box with wires coming out of it with 12v ign and 12v constant and a earth

nothing more to it and its not in the engine bay

rx72c 07-06-10 08:20 PM

SO DOES THE CAR STOP RUNNING? Were is your earth going?

bo0557 07-07-10 10:16 AM

Car does run but havent had it out in a week..

Will be heading out in it tonight so will drop you a line on msn if your on your morning

bo0557 07-07-10 04:57 PM

yeh took the car out for cruise again and the arc2 is buzzin its head off.

just got off the phone from the tech guys in the USA and he said the only 2 reasons it would make the zap or ticking sound is if the main loom plug wasnt on properly which it is OR their is some solder issue inside and its arcing..

Going to send it to my mate whos running on here in the UK and get him to run it on his car..

bo0557 07-07-10 05:31 PM

here is a vid i took from my iphone - the sounds can be heard from about 7sec or so..

ive got the ARC2 module and the DC12-1 Coils

fritts 07-14-10 10:47 AM

You running it directly off the ecu or using an igniter in between the ecu and cdi?

I am only running the ARC2 on the leading spark only - Not trailing.

WLD 07 07-22-10 01:37 AM

I'm running the dynatek cdi from the microtech with internal ignitors (ltx8) with a dynatek coil for each leading plug with a Bosch HEC715 coil for each trailing plug.

bo0557 07-24-10 07:54 AM

rx72c 08-15-10 11:40 PM

bo0557 08-16-10 01:35 PM

do u mean on the leading u don't need the x4 box just on trailing?

I decided to go with dynatek but I did fry my x4 on leading only,
my trailing ignitors r still good,

so if I use the arc2 on leading of the signal beatween the x4 and ecu,
and have the x4 fire my trailing can I still use my toasted x4?

full-cruise 09-23-10 01:36 PM

im going to the dyno next week and would like to have it in the car if its posible

indio84 06-28-11 09:14 PM

so any one with some update to the dynatek arc2 running only in the leading?
the box is cheap i would like some feedback so I try it out or not

XLR8 01-22-12 04:51 PM

Bump for info

full-cruise 04-13-12 01:13 PM

i tried to get mine hooked up but my lt8s doesnt use the x4 microtech box and i tried to connect to the oem fc leading coil with no success.. been on the shelf ever sence..
