autronic sm4 ecu

I'm going the autronic route on my FC3S TII.
Just wondering why for what seems such a good ecu no one in the U.S seems
to be using it? I'll be purchasing mine tomorrow, from the readup on it it seems
as though it's a real class bit of kit.
Will let you all know how I get on once installed.

I was considering it, but then I heard through the rumor mill that they are less than supportive of their customer base. Also, it seems odd that they do not allow prospective owners to at least VIEW their support forum. If you don't mind me asking, what is the cost of the SM4 with an unterminated harness? -You can pm me the answer if you prefer.

Yeah I heard the same stuff & had the same gripes, but weighing everything the same basket I think its great ecu. I ot quote by the UK agent £1175 + vat for the ecu, loom, iat sensor, map sensor, and I think something else was included can't remember. I'm gonna call one of the agents in the U.S as the I should save a bit with current exchange rate.

At the end of the day your not buying the ECU because of support from the arrogant **** who runs the support forum, from my personal experience he is a total useless ***** (that is proven to provide wrong information about his own product) so its no great loss Get to know your local distributor, this is who you will deal with anyway.

The product is that good that you need not worry about a **** head international distributor or a pissy **** nobody run support forum

Go buy it, and if you have any difficulty I can put you onto a myriad of capable people who have been involved with Autroinc well before these un help full incompetent people, remember the person you choose to buy from too (your local supplier) will know allot more and what he does not know can be found through may other channels, not to mention straight to the source and not some power triping banana bending trash talking freak

Just remember there was life before the internet & e-mail ........

That price is very reasonable. I assumed it was more like $3,000 USD.

Rice, nice post and good points.

Thanks to you two ******** I am now rethinking my decision to buy an E11v2 :p

I just bought a SM4, have not installed it yet. Through out my research I have seen rice racing name mentioned next to the Autronic/RX7 install, So i guess rice racing and enzo will have to assist me with my install. You both will have to post up some install info that is autronic specific, and how about a few cal files.

Well my 3 SM4's turned up today (1.05 chip) and I was impressed with the 3 page instruction manual included ! Well no instructions at all just 3 wiring diagrams lol, **** me how many options are on the beta software.... plain unbelievable !!! and every thing including axis of the tables are able to be changed and modified. I'm a bit confused right now LOL

Yep. The SM4 is a bit more complicated to set up. We set one up on a 13B PP a couple of days ago, and we did scratch our head a couple of times... End results was very good though, and the owner was very happy.

I am having trouble seting up the ecu to use the factory coils in a 93+. The customer want's to retain the factory coils and OMP, Im about to tell him he has to covert to four coils because I have been strugling with this too long. As for the omp, Im completely lost on this, I could probably figure out how to wire it based on how the e11v2 does it but I have no clue how it is mapped....

I know you guys hate AEM, but if you look at the AEM cal file for the 3rd gen, you will see how they are mapping it out:-)

Can someone give me a quick overview of how an ignition 'multiplexer' works? I am thinking about using an SM4 on my project car, and I believe I will need one.

Also, while I'm at it, how do I create a NEW cal file with the non-autotune software? The only options I have from the pull down menu are Open Cal file (and there are no default map), Copy Cal File, Communications, Communications Config, Exit.

Figured this out, but am still wondering about my previous ignition question.

The SM4 software lets you specify where the ignition events occur in relation to crankshaft angle. You can also specify the order they occur. This includes having the same ignition events on two outputs at the same time.

The multiplexer takes the ignition signals from the four outputs and decodes them into 5, 6 or 8 outputs

Yeah that was me alright! When you're important and in demand as you are that is what happens.
Hey we need to have the laws that be provide a forum for the growing Autronic crowd. I don't want to go searching through all the other threads looking for information or discussions on the Autronic systems or setups.
Can we get some support on this, guys.
