AEM Remote Commander

I already posted this on AEM's site but I wanted to know which Hackers would be interested in getting this off the ground, what I'm thinking is getting a Windows CE or Palm compiler and trying to get the values that the AEM spits back (Serial) into a GUI interface that you can bring up on a handheld interface, and therefore monitor and possibly make minor adjustments without getting the laptop out. Sort of like the Dashboard Module on the AEM software but possibly better looking (yes that was a crack on AEM) LOL.

I can code the interface and get the values to display, what I'd need help with is building (Coding) a USB or Serial interface that would dump a Matrix of variables, out to an Array that I'd be able to pull values from.
Anybody that has an Aem interested in a joint venture like this !?

Derek

Why don't you just run the datalog from AEM on the Palm with a USB to serial port adapter?

J

btw, from the response on the forum and AEM site, there isn't a whole lot of market compared to the work and support required to make this product launch.

I wouldn't recommend USB/serial adapters for use on this thing. Have a search through the forum. More than one user has lost the programming from glitched comms due to the way most USB/serial adapters work.

Why there's no packet checksum to protect against corrupted packets, I don't know. And it's that lack of protection that's keeping me from really seriously trying to get a look at the communications protocol. When I hacked the PowerFC, I was relatively sure I wouldn't be doing any damage. The EMS has me a bit scared, so I'm not terribly interested in having a go just yet.

Also, I don't think the software runs on WinCE or PocketPC devices (and almost definately won't run on Palms).
