No knock sensor. But sensor always reading 3??

I have a na 13b made from 12a irons with gslse housing. There is no place to put a knock sensor because none of the engine parts ever used one. Because it's a na motor I didnt think a knock sensor was necessary. I noticed in my logs that the sensor always reads 3. Is that good or bad. Is it always regarding the timing? The wire for the knock sensor is isolated with shrink tubing so it wouldnt ground out. I have all the settings on the knock sensor page set to 0. So I thought it was all off. Car has been running good no problems at all. Just curious why the sensor is always reading 3. With no sensor. The ecu I'm using is the Adaptronic universal select 440d.
