Yes! After 3 tries, I'm finally getting an FD!

Over the past 6 months I have been trying to find a good FD.

The first one I found was 1993 silver ext., black/red int. and had 30k miles on it and no aftermarket mods at all. I talked to the owner and set up a date 1 week later to see it. When I got there (2 hours away), he had already sold the car but forgot to tell me...

The second I found was a 1993 silver ext., black int. and I won it on ebay. It had 50k miles and was very clean with almost no aftermarket mods. Two days after the auction I contacted the seller to ask for his info so I could send him the deposit. The next day I got an email with photos of the car - WRECKED. He totaled it the day after the auction.

The thrid I almost bought was a 1993 black ext., tan int. with 46k miles on it. I contacted the seller and arranged to bring a bank check for his asking price in two weeks. A week before I was to pick up the car, he called me and told me he sold it for $500 more, without contacting me first...

Now, I found a 1994 silver ext. black int., with only 20k miles on it. It's in mint condition, and is originally from Canada (but was garaged all the time). Right now the car is in mint condition, and has only had a few reliability mods - Silicone hose and tie wrap job done, SR Motorsports radiator, downpipe, PowerFC, Efini Y-pipe, Profec B boost controller, and 4 brand new Yokohama A032R tires, and it has always had Royal Purple synthetic oil in it. I'm picking the car up in a week or two (when I can fly to get it), and I am sending out the deposit $ tomorrow.

Here are some pics:

nice huh??? DAMN I CANT WAIT TO PICK HER UP!

Congratulations

I'm on that same road right now, trying to find the right car.

those can be added on. the sunroof and the rear wiper blade makes it a non r1/r2.

Nice catch man. The spoilers came stock on R1's, they may have been an option for touring and base I don't remember, but the owner can always buy them from the aftermarket. Also if he says that it is a touring than I would concur it has the sunroof which was not available on the R1's. But it could be a base or PEP. Anyway nice find and good luck with her.

Touring had a trunk spoiler as an option so it could have came from the factory with it or it could have been added, and the r1/r2 front lip could have been added at a later date by someone. It has a sunroof(which looks to be glass so might be rare?) so it's a touring.

edit: posted at the same time as snowmansteiner and ttb, sorry. TTB is right though another sign it's a touring is the rear wiper blade. Also you can see in the pic there is no right oil cooler so another giveaway that's it's correctly a touring and not an r1/r2.

sweet thanks for the info guys. yah i was pretty sure it was a touring. i like the front lip, makes the stock bumper look alot nicer with it.

i decided i would go for a really clean one (close to stock) instead of getting a slightly worn in (but cheaper) one and then spending extra $ on aftermarket parts. i think ill be glad because i have been told i will get alot longer lifespan out of the car by buying one like this. ill prob do some bolt on work, if i can ever pay off the $ im gonna own on this...

but i do have a friend with a 93 touring that has some extra parts he is going to give me, a greddy blow off valve, and an apexi intake. those will help spruce up the engine compartment a little bit till i can work up more $!

Wow sweet car, congrats on it. Its like opening a fortune cookie and it says, "Good things come to people that wait."

I was in the same boat as you, but sort of a different route. I was going to get a New Vette, but then I went to eat at this Chinese Restaurant and opened up a fortune cookie and you probably know what it said.

Anyway I was very fortune to come about reading a article about the Rx7, an article that I bought years and years ago when the first Rx7 came out. Man I was amazed about it, the article was saying it was the import car of the year. After that I felled in love with the Rx7 and Iam glad that I was not too haste to get a Vette and ended up buying my R1. Anyway congrats again. Treat it good and it will return the favor.

That's a beautiful car man, very clean.. I love silver fd's. I had somethin weird happen when I bought mine too. I was literally a day away from buying a 97 prelude (which, granted, was a clean car only 10k miles) when I broke my ankle in a freak accident. I couldn't buy the Prelude cuz I couldn't drive manual with my left ankle broken, and decided to wait.. Right before I got my cast off I got a great deal on the FD I own now and haven't regretted it since!

incredible car! I remember how I felt when I got mine with 37k miles!

definately consider getting a dp, upgraded radiator, and battery relocation kit if the car doesn't allready have them...and possibly the jspec round tail lights if you want to do something cosmetic

Also, Don't forget to let the car cool down for atleast 30seconds after driving, AND...much more importantly but not as commonly stated...LET IT WARM UP FOR ATLEAST 10 MINUTES!!

HAPPY ROTORING!! (finally :p)

EDIT: Ohh yeah, silicone upgraded hose job now will save many headaches down the road as you might know!

Patience is a virtue! Nice catch dude...I looked for about a year before I actually bought one..calling everyone and doing elimination by phone...Like you I made a ballsy move and bought it without even seeing it. Flew from Ok to DC and drove it 19 hours back...one of the best rides you'll ever have...have fun and welcome to the dark side

i got it for just under $20k....but it has the lowest mileage i could find (well except for the ones with like 8k miles that are like $35k) seeing how im 18, and im paying for the car myself, i think it was a good deal for a very clean car.

oh yah for those people that missed when i wrote it, the car already has Silicone hose and tie wrap job done, SR Motorsports radiator, downpipe, PowerFC, Efini Y-pipe, Profec B boost controller, and 4 brand new Yokohama A032R tires, and it has always had Royal Purple synthetic oil in it. (so i wont have to do much work to it untill i save up some more $$$)

Let it idle for 30 seconds then drive it easy until its warm.

goober - yah thats who is selling it to me. hes in Texas right? you know him?

yah, i dont plan on doing much engine work right away. i want to keep the car as reliable as possible while im in college. the only stuff i was considering doing was:

+ aluminum coolant air separator tank from pettit racing
+ alarm/keyless entry w/ remote start (for pre-warming her up!) my friend can intall one for $250 he said because he owns a stereo/alarm install shop.
+ jspec round tail lights mod (ill prob just do the trick where you open them up and paint the inside - ive been told that works well and is pretty easy)
+ eventually side skirts and the cwest front bumper

also i have an xbox that im going to put in the car. a guy i work with had ants build a nest in his kids xbox, and he brought it to me and had me open it up to take the game out of the drive (since it wouldnt turn on). he let me keep the xbox since it wouldnt work, and i realized that just the power supply was fried. i got a new one for $20 off ebay, and now ive got a perfect working xbox. i think im going to install it in one of those compartments behind the seats, then ill put LCD screens in the sunvisors or maybe one in the glove box. just an idea, since it would prob cost me only $150 for the screen.

damn im so excited

Very Nice Car.

It's funny to hear that it is originally from Canada. I live in Canada and bought my FD back in September, and it is originally from the U.S. go figure.

Have fun driving it, I did for a month then had to put mine away for the winter. Come on summer.

Yeah, I kind of know him. He offered me his car a while back when I was looking for a car. At the time I was looking for either a touring or a R2, but in the end I ended up deciding I just wanted to get a Silver R2. In fact he was the one that helped me find my car by sending me a link to the site that had it for sale. Good guy he is indeed. Enjoy the car! Besides the different speedo, that car is perfect!!!
