X-05 connector from engine

It has been a long night of looking at wiring diagrams, running wires, fixing broken wires, and completing my new harness. So onto my question. On the X-05 harness there is a wire that is W/L. Now this wire goes over to the Yellow ECU harness. My question is what does it do?

I ask because i am using the Tec3r and trying to figure out what does what while combining my transmission connectors with this new one. This is the last thing that i need, so whoever can help me out i appreciate it.

Thanks
Jake

Im guessing it is just a switched 12v? I wonder if there is a way to run it like stock without using a GPO. If it does just need a switched 12v that would be awesome. What page on the wiring diagram did you see it?

Page Z-30 and Z-42. On Z-30 you will see that the W/L converts to G/B at X-05. I'm not sure about the rest.

Alright Well my question is what did the ECU do with this signal? It goes in to the the smaller yellow powertrain harness coming from the engine, and i have eliminated it. Did it just ground out or is it a switched voltage? I have looked at the diagram and havent figure it out.

I looked at the wiring diagram a little more and it appears that it turns the fans on at temps above 105 degrees or whatever setting you have programed in your ECU. Also, relays No. 2 and No. 4 are for low speed. Medium speed is No. 2, 3, and 4. High is No. 1-4. This is found on F-144.

In the diagnostics box there is a terminal labeled TFA. When you ground this terminal, the fans will turn on to low speed. So, I'm assuming the ECU simply grounds relays No. 2 and No. 4 with the W/L wire. On Z-42 you can see the junction between the ECU, diagnostics box, and relays.

Have you tried calling Defined? Might want to verify this with them.

Very interesting. Now i havent tried calling logan yet, i have been busying with other things on the car. I might just go see him monday or something. For some reason he isnt a vendor on the forums anymore here and he is banned????

Where is Tom when you need him, he always chimes in on electrical questions. aka Badddrx7

Alright, well looking at the relays for the coolant fans 2 and 4 that G/B is 85. 30 is going to the fans 87 is connecting relays 1,2 and 3. 86 is the switched ignition for relays 1,2 and 3.

Since G/B is 85 and goes to W/L on the X05 then to the yellow ecu connector, I would guess that the ecu then grounds it out. So i would just need to ground this to the chassis.

Looking at coolant fan relay #1 85 V/P goes to the heater control unit. It is also attached the to the A/C thermoswitch. I would assume that this is the that kicks the fans up higher when the a/c is turned on?

If this is the case I could ground this with 85 G/B from relay 2 and 4 so they run full speed all the time. Or I could just leave V/P alone.

Can anyone confirm this for me.
