Wiring and connector master guide.

Took me a while, but here it is. One excel file, every connector in Front, Emission, Engine, Dash, Instrument, Floor, and Rear harnesses. Drawn and labeled with what wire does what. Yes, the same info is in the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual but this should be a lot quicker for use, plus its searchable, and I feel is easier than tracing a wiring schematic. I have left it unlocked, so you may change yours to suit your car. Mine is a 1994 USDM PEP, Manual xmission, with Bose, so 93 and 95 (and on), and non-US may have differences. Hope this can assist people in their wiring.
Please ask questions and suggest changes so this can be the best possible file for people! There may be a few wire labels missing from the X connector section, I probably went crosseyed staring at page after page, but it's 99% good! Order from Chaos.... |
Not all heroes wear capes! Thanks a bunch!! |
Dude ! Good stuff good stuff :icon_tup: |
For our friends up North in the "not-insane" part of North America, only differences should be that you get a headlight cleaner and friggen DRLs. I would not have minded either for the US but typical Japan - "America gets the least cool version of every car we make!" like S20X STis, Spirit R, Type Rs....WTF. ( I know sometimes its emissions or some lame EPA/NHTSA crap)
|
Holy crap dude, Thanks! That's one serious amount of work!

Thanks Dale!

Sticky??
|
Yes there are occasional unlabeled wires in the file, usually they weren't listed in the FSM so safe assumption is a 12v source.
|
Bump! I'm sure more people could use this and/or modify it for their own MY.
|
When I get back from deployment I'll add the part numbers from another thread for the connectors, that way new ones can be purchased for repairing/rebuilding harnesses. Now that I know where to look I'm sure I can get most of the connectors.
|
Where can we order these connectors?

has a list of the part numbers and locations to buy, I'm going to consolidate onto my excel to make it easy |

Updated the excel with hyperlinks from connector description to the picture, as well as added the part numbers for most of the Emission Harness connectors.

Added this to the FAQ. Thanks @b3delta !

I don't have excel to open it. But can someone get me a pinout for the headlight switch connector. I got some crazy stuff going on... or a bad ground
|
B3delta - Thanks so much for this work! Great tool for the rewiring job I'm tackling :icon_tup:

I rewired almost my whole car so hit me up if you run into issues
The FD I picked up is a single turbo, with a Link G4+ Fury ECU. The PO did a reasonably decent job of building out a ECU wiring harness with a mil-spec bulkhead connector on the firewall, but his harness lacked the wiring for OMP control and a few other features I'd like to incorporate, and it wasn't quite up to my high standards of electrical wiring. It does have a GM DBW 90mm throttle body though that I'll be retaining. My plan is to build out the new wiring harness, which will add in OMP support, clean up the integration with the factory wiring & remove unused factory wiring where it's applicable, and wire in a few other features the Link can support. For the OMP, the Link will control it, and it will deliver 2-stroke lube from a separate tank with an RA OMP adapter like I have it set up on my FC (the FC runs an AEM Infinity ECU though). Since the Link has plenty of I/O and capability to support cruise control with a DBW throttle, I'll also be integrating the factory cruise switch gear into the Link ECU to get cruise control back. |
b3delta,
Thanks ! Don't need it now, but it'll be nice if I do. |
While we're on the subject of connectors, does anyone know the MFG/part numbers for replacement terminals that can be used to service the "X" harness-to-harness connectors?
Specifically I'm looking for the X-14 & X-05 for now. I could have sworn I saw a post on this site some time ago that did just that, included pictures of each connector and provided links to vendors where you can buy some of them, but I'm having no joy finding it again with the search tool. |

I believe X-05 is different for USDM and JDM too. The easiest way to do it is to just buy whatever 10 or 14 pin connector you want for X-05 and X-14 and re-pin both ends. If you want that OEM look though it'll take some searchng and possible trial and error, I have quite the collection of terminals right now from just that. try this one https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...-984160/page3/ |
^Thanks, I know that the X-05 & X-14 connectors & probably separate terminals for them are available somewhere. My car's PO put new X-05 and X-14 connectors in when he built the harness to integrate the Link ECU with some of the OEM wiring, but so far he's had no luck finding his order records for me :facepalm3:

That's plan B - it's easy enough to get find alternate connectors, but then you have to wire both sides, and you're crunched under the dash crimping pins onto the harness side of the connector that isn't easy to remove from the car. I'm getting too old for that kind of physical abuse :rlaugh: I got that thread in my bookmarks now, but it lacks info on the X-14 & X-05 connectors. |
