VA windshield molding

Anyone replaced their windshield molding before? Mine is torn and falling apart and looks like it might need to be replaced. First off is it just cosmetic? Secondly do you have to remove the windshield to replace it? I did a search and did not find much on the molding replacement.

Thanks

I believe Ray Crowe is having a special on these right now, I think. Call Ray @ Malloy Mazda.

I saw that he is having a special but I wanted to see if the windshield needs to be pulled to install it before I purchased one.

Wondering about the same thing, I got one from Ray and am looking for a how-to, or I have to take it to a window shop and have them do it?

I went to a glass shop and they led me to believe they would have to replace the entire windshield in order to replace the molding.

Having pulled a windshield on a FD I can honestly say it might be the only job I would pay someone else to do.

I'm getting ready to replace my windshield also when I repaint the car. My molding is fine but I guess I'll need a new one once the old windshield comes out? My old windshield has a crack on the passenger side that's been there since I bought the car.

i bought an extra front windshield molding. like everyone says, the windshield has to come out in order for new molding to be installed correctly. it has a lip that goes behind the glass when it's installed.

i just had my car painted and only had the rear glass removed before painting. my glass guy was afraid of breaking the front glass while in the process of removing it. so instead of using the mazda molding i bought he made a custom one and glued it back in place, looks oem.

I did not have to remove the glass to put back the oem
Glass guy was able to do it for $10.
