SpeedKing 01-10-04 03:14 AM

FD Lifer here. :)

TireSmokin7 01-10-04 03:32 AM

When SUV's were taking over all the dealerships I thought yes! Now that HP is becoming more popular again I don't know. This car is getting cheaper to build up compared to when I first got it though. Now if Jim would just... (jk);)

diyman25 01-10-04 04:57 AM

RE FOR LIFE!!!.

Larz 01-10-04 05:12 AM

It'll be a classic in some more years. It will always be a pimp ride.

shawnk 01-10-04 07:49 AM

I plan on keeping mine for life. Of course that is only the plan and plans are notorious for changing. I had a few plans in my 20's that I was pretty serious about and alot of those have gone out the window...

Planning to keep it as long as I can..

evot23 01-10-04 08:51 AM

I plan on keeping it as long as I can but if a new RX-7 comes out...that may temp me to trade/sell it.:)

Scrapiron7 01-10-04 09:10 AM

I doubt few, if any, of us will keep them for life unless we die while driving them in some sort of accident.

True.. I hope I loose my car than die with it..

the_glass_man 01-10-04 09:53 AM

FD 4 LIFE YO!!!1!
I'd like to keep it for awhile, but there are other things out there that interest me as well, business opportunities, getting a house, school, etc..
But I love my car and working on it more then anyone I know, I enjoy driving even more so, but I know it isn't my very reason to live.

911GT2 01-10-04 10:43 AM

As of now, I think I'll have mine for as long as I can. But things change, you never know.

RX7 RAGE 01-10-04 11:38 AM

I'm taking mine to the grave with me. :)

Sgtblue 01-10-04 12:11 PM

Probably won't DRIVE as much, but if I get my workshop garage enlarged as I'm hoping I won't sell it. I'll move on to that Z06 dream of mine, but keep it to drive at the AARP parades. :D

rotarypower101 01-10-04 12:16 PM

Remember when your Dad, uncle, or close friend to the family brakes out one of those old photos of their old cars that are just undeniably cool in any generation.
Everybodys like how could you get rid of that car! Are you stupid!

Whether or not it does become a classic, which I don’t think it will, it will always be a very special car that people will always talk about while we are still putting around on the ground in these hydrocarbon novelties.

For me I always thought that it would be very cool to just store it away if I ever come to a point in my life where it is not practical or possible to use up this much of my time and spend this much money all for the love of something that is a little different yet strangely addicting.

So for all intensive purposes yes I want to keep it forever.

It has been the car I've always dreamed about when I was younger.

And despite my affection for a Ferrari F50 or a McLaren F1, my FD is the only car I ever wanted.

So yes, I'll take my car to the grave! :)

Later,

ColesRx7 01-10-04 12:51 PM

I love my car. But I think I have mad alot of mistakes, I would almost like to sell this one and buy another to start over.

nitekids 01-10-04 01:59 PM

Might even have them burry me in my 94!

RexTech 01-10-04 02:09 PM

My FD forever, It will be in my will for my grandsons.

J.S.J 01-10-04 02:20 PM

I may keep it a year or so I want to build a mid engine 914. I have a nice 302 Chevy sitting around and since it will be a 1970 to 1973 theres NO emission testing at all. But we will see.

ooEfiniRx7oo 01-10-04 03:04 PM

i wanna keep this one for long time but, mine has 133k on the chase..wonder how many more miles i can drive this thing for (obcorse i'll keep on changing the motor/transmition/etc...)

(-.-) sigh....danm miles

clayne 01-10-04 03:09 PM

Waiting until 2023 so I can take the cat off. Ha ha. :D :D

clayne 01-10-04 03:10 PM

efini, I don't know man, I heard METAL only lasts 5 years. :D

Senna 01-10-04 03:28 PM

No plans of ever letting it go if I can help it. Would like to add another FD or two to the collection actually!!

racer1 01-10-04 03:34 PM

FD for lifetime!

Unless i win the lottery and buy myself a ferrari. But then again i'll keep them both:)

DSMguywantsFD 01-10-04 03:47 PM

if i ever won the lottery i would definitely keep it forever.

Senseny 01-10-04 05:09 PM

I am going to try to keep it forever, but you never know what life has in store. I have learned to never say never.

machinis 01-10-04 05:33 PM

Not an FD guy at all. I bought mine for the looks and because I may turn it into a track car soon. I am more of a DSM guy. That's all I know. I will be getting me a 1G AWD and that will be my keeper for life. Don't get me wrong, I think this cars will be history like 50 years from now.

rx7superman 01-10-04 05:48 PM

She's a Keeper!!!!!!!

I'm keeping mine forever. Although like others have said, I would like to have another one. Currently its not very streetable so when I buy my next FD I would keep all the creature comforts and drive it alot more. These cars are more than just cars, they are apart of my soul and mine has been with me through fun times and rough times. She'll be with me till the end!

EdwardNorth 01-10-04 05:49 PM

I plan on keeping my baby forever. It will be an EdwardNorth family heirloom.

Seriously though, I bought my FD to enjoy, modify, and keep as close to showroom condition as possible. All this, yes, until the day I die. I could never get rid of her. The FD takes my breath away every time I look at one, it never fails. It is truly one of the new classics.

LIFER baby!

:)

Roar 629 01-10-04 06:09 PM

i figure out that i ask this in the wrong place..this is a rx7club.. so everybody either own one or admires it :)
i guide my self before sumbody get on me first :p:

kingcornflake 01-10-04 06:25 PM

@Roar 629

Hell yeah, I'm gonna keep it as long there is no essential decay on my personal situation! More than that but kinda got addicted and bought a R1 wreck to rebuild it...and THIS, my friend, is SPENDY down here in Switzerland :D

Just stresses out my relation to that car...

:mspank:

cheers
Patrick

rx7_13b 01-10-04 10:27 PM

id keep mine

man i love my fd so much id sleep in it if it would stay warm forever, i would sell my house b4 i sold my fd, i think when i die im going to be buried with my fd. hehe

ZeroBanger 01-10-04 11:02 PM

William...

The FD is an amazing car. My friend darril always tells me that owning an FD is like dating a supermodel with a crack addiction.

Its hard for me after buying my RX-8 to justify the existance of my 7. Its REALLY difficult. I love the FD, its the most amazing car of its day and still pretty fantastic today. Sometimes I get in my 7 and hit the gas and its SOOOOO FAST.. I love that about the 7. I also love the feeling when I downshift and hit the gas around a corner and the turbo kicks in. But then Im on the road and its bumpy. Every part of the car is shaking, the plastic is breaking everywhere. The rattles, squeeks, clunks and interior noise is hard to take.

So there you have it. I dont know.

revsteve 01-10-04 11:45 PM

Having just bought mine I would like to say that yes, I will keep it forever. If the car is paid off and from a tuning perspective it is at a point where it is reliable, why not keep it for nice sundays?

As for me personally, I planned to keep it forever when I bought it - and I have developed my tuning plan in accordance with that goal. That is - to keep it totally stock except for the basic reliability mods, some gauges , and the stereo (although the 99 spec bumper, turn lamps, tail lights, and spoiler are MIGHTY tempting) Maybe some different rims - but keep the stockers of course.

This thread poses an interesting question: Given the limited numbers of 7's brougth into the States, will it ever attain be considered a "classic"?

Pretty much my plan too for my current ride. Occasional drive only and keep it as stock as I can. Would like to get another that I can do more stuff to and experiment with, track it, etc..

speeddemon7 01-11-04 01:11 AM

given the fact that the first generation rx 7 is a classic. And i got this from a book wirh classic cars in it.And sure ever it was in there. So Im pretty sure it will definatly attain classic status.

Mr. Stock 01-11-04 01:26 AM

I thought for the longest time that I would keep my R1 for the rest of my life. But lately, I have been thinking of selling it and buying a Ferrari.

jimlab 01-11-04 01:43 AM

I sort of have to... :)

InsaneGideon 01-11-04 01:53 AM

After getting back from the car show, I realized there wasn't anything *that* much more appealing to me. Certainly not for their prices.

A Ferrari, or maybe a Panoz, that new Porsche GT... OK, sure, when I get $20mil in the bank and I can take a f**k-off day from work to drive to the dealer for the bi-monthly/1000mi tuneup. ;) Or I just might trade it for a hot wife if that's somehow possible. :D Otherwise I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

at least i hav sumbody thinkin bout sellin it. i gues u jokin right :p: wat's the percentage of FD owner on the board. i have really come close to the number of total FD on the market. man countin finger on my hand is not easy now.. close to 500 FD on the market now <thru searchin internet source

MazdaRx7Racer4Life 01-11-04 03:10 AM

I know I will be keeping it for the rest of my life, even when I become a big money balla lawyer, ill still have it, ofcourse it will no longer be only 2 rotors, and twin, it will be some sort of flying monster. lol

cruiser 01-11-04 03:29 AM

I also plan to keep mine for good. Unless something unpredictable happens and I would need to sell it. Problem here is that there are only 2 in the country and we cannot import FDs anymore because of emissions. So I'm forced to keep it :D

Goober 01-11-04 12:03 PM

I plan on keeping my FD for as long as I can. But there can be something that comes up down the road that will make me have to part ways with it. I just hope nothing like that ever happens.

V8KILLR 01-11-04 12:30 PM

As much money, time, agony and joy this damn car has caused me, it better stay with me as long as i have stayed with it!! Yes, 4life here... just keep it in my collection of cars.... ;)
