Where to get Light Conversion Kit?
Anyone know where I can buy that kit so convert the stock pop-up lights for the ones that go up half-way with two smaller lights in each side? Know what I'm talking about?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you make your own? Cash is one thing, a home project is another. I'm all about the homebuilt projects. Peace Out. Are you a Dr.---Bacon???

Long live Bacon and his late night escapades of drunken stupor!!! Looks like keeping them up would bring air into the engine. Not too shabby. Not bad at all.

well hope your ready for an adventure
thanks for the compliments on the lights, i look back and would of done them different(bulbs and rivets..ill get into that later) theres 2 methods of making them "sleepy" ok after you disassemble the lights you can do what i did and modify the headlight pushrod thingy... but you cant just cut it unless you want to leave the lights up all the time, but what you have to do is fabricate a "slide" for the arm to run in.. what i did was remove a bit over an inch from the arm, then i fabricated a slide for ti to slide in out of tubular almnium. the slide allows the arm to be pulled down all the way when the lights are down(if you dont youll burn out your motor b/c it will keep trying to pull the lights down but theres no give in the bakset to give) and then when the lights go up the arm slides in the "silde" and pushes them up to the desired height.....sounds fun hehe.. but the down fall of mine were a) i used driving lights..they are a hell of alot better than the stock headlights, but are bright as hell with 100w bulbs in each lamp...with my fogs i have 510w of light streaming at the road...shit can almost blind you if i could do it again id use the hella 90mm lights as listed in a thread in the 3rd gen section, wich youve proably seen... 2) i used screws and nuts to hold the arm to the slide, where as i should of used rivets, b/c the nuts and bolts even though almost flush with the slide after 4-5 up/down cycles will get snagged up( i leave the headlights in the up position all the time now) as far as mounthing them in the basket, i just bent the driving light brackets and used custom spacers, and on diff piches to give the lights the correct angle ... and screwed them to the top brace of the basket---ill take pics this week when i pull the bumper to install the fmic ;) the other method is the pivot headlight controller, this only costs like 90 bux for the unit but the way its designed to work is have the sleepy look with the lights off then when the liights are flicked on go to the full height, but you can get arroud this with some creative wiring...but i have no clue how, and the headlight controll module is behind the gauge cluster.... hope all that helped if you have any more ques feel free to ask len |
