where can i find a good price on a BOV

Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy an aftermarket blow off valve but the only ones i can find are like 350$.

Can someone tell me a good brand to get and where to get them at a good price?

thanks

Much like with most things, you get what you pay for. IIRC TurboXS(not to be confused with XS Power) BOVs are pretty cheap, like between 100-200. But TurboXS BOVs tend to be really loud...

Are you running a single turbo? is there something wrong with your stock BOV? With stock twins, the stock BOVs are usually your best bet.

i was just looking for a sound improvement, although if the stock BOV is better for my turbos i will keep it..

and yeah i am still on twin stocks

Here's the thing:

If you still have stock piping, then you need a BOV that comes as a "kit". The kit will come with a vehicle specific flange to use. Otherwise, they expect you to weld up a flange on a hard IC pipe and mount the BOV there. If you are on stock piping, that ain't going to happen.

Take a look here: http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/136.htm

You'll see that some say "kit" and some say "universal". Universal means you'll have to figure out your own mounting.

all i did was pop the pipe from the stock BOV..that lead to the air box. sounds just as sweet as a 300 dollar bov to me!

Are you really going to drop over $200 on BOV just for a sound improvement? Wow, you must be loaded.

I did. I didn't say that an aftermarket BOV had no benefits. All I said is that I was surprised that he was willing to buy it solely for sound improvement.

People spend more than that on stereo equipment for "sound improvement". Everyone has things they are willing to spend money on. It's just different for each person. Some people spend $4-5000 on rims which I think it's ridiculous. However, more power to them.

+1 dont understand the logic behind spending SO MUCH on rims...

Keep in mind that with all the neat new "sounds" you're going to be beating on the car more and more.

Have spare cash ready for reliability which I would do first, but I won't get into that. :)

finneymc 03-27-08 07:24 PM

all this input is awesome. I do have some money to drop so i am not worried about spending it on a BOV. I am in Japan right now so i only paid 2g's for my 7 with 60,000miles on it. It already has mods and i really don't care to do anything else to the engine so i just want that sound that i have always loved.

i have already done stuff like new fuel filter, tranny flush, coolant flush, replaced the coolant tank thingy (the army green one) and all that good stuff so now i am just working on little interior improvements and stuff like that.

if you are interested in info on my jap spec 92 then read here for a lot of info and pics

very nice, buy what you want, dont settle for cheap crap, I would spend alot of money on a great BOV sound as well if thats what it took, cuz it would make me happy to hear it, so the money was then well spent.

finneymc 03-27-08 11:43 PM

i think i will get the greddy kit that mahjik provided a link to! i can't wait now
