Whats the most someone spent on their FD?

What is the most amount of money yuo spent on your FD? I havent spent too much yet but ive been realizeing that if i want to make my FD nice and fast its gonna take a fortune

skir2222 07-29-06 01:03 PM

I dont think any more then 6000$ anyone else have any inputs thats for everything besides the engine

willjs7 07-29-06 01:06 PM

20k+ :(

spoolin1012 07-29-06 01:09 PM

Seriously save your money. Once you start to spend you can't stop or you just need to spend more money to get it perfect. Its fun modding the 7 but fu*k, it kicks you in the ass later. This is because i spend all my money on my car, i just dont have any to be spending.

T2 Tsunami 07-29-06 01:17 PM

I just got an FD about 4 months ago, and dropped 2k so far in pursuit of the perfect 7. It all depends on what you want out of your 7.

DDagman 07-29-06 01:48 PM

Ive already spent about 15K just on the engine mods, i still need ot get it painted and detailed, coilovers, wheels all that crap. damn i dont know thats SOO much money

`sl!mXP 07-29-06 02:02 PM

Since I bought the car about 2.5 years ago Ive spent almost 8k on it.

But the car had roughly 10k in receipts when I bought it and another 10k in undocumented mods.

TurboTagTeam 07-29-06 02:04 PM

I bought my 7 last november. I'v put allmost 15k INTO it since then.

VegasFD 07-29-06 02:12 PM

xblazinlv 07-29-06 02:45 PM

nocomply24 07-29-06 02:48 PM

Just to maintain? WOW

rx-7-94 07-29-06 04:08 PM

12,000 for the car
9,000 for mods and etc and still have lots more coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

three sevens 07-29-06 04:32 PM

I stopped keeping track a few years ago, but last month was a big one, Paint job, motor, tranny, BNR's, Fuel system, Power fc.........$12,210

tphan 07-29-06 04:37 PM

2004 - $10.5K 94 MB PEP
2005 - $2.5K CCWs & Tires
2006 - $3.7K Apexi intakes, Greddy SMIC, R1 strut bar, AST, HKS DP, RB DT, Defi gauges, Apexi PFC, Tune session, H&R, Bilstein shock/strut.

Still have $1.3K left for 2006; alum radiator & ACT/Flywheel replacement.

Total: $18K...not bad at all. Would have put that much down for a new C6 with 800/mth payment.

What matter the most is I like the end result...life is too short.

Enjoy while can.

SiKoPaThX 07-29-06 04:43 PM

I almost lost my thumb to the FD today (fabricating parts).

That would have been pretty expensive.

You haven't had anything break yet. You haven't spend real money til things start breaking.

I know...I spent close to $40K into my 1994 Cobra.

A budget has been set aside in case the 7 need some sort of major repair. It's a toy, hardly see 1000 miles per year. Not because I don't drive it, just not having enough time.

silverflash2 07-29-06 05:28 PM

Bought in 1999 for 15,000, and I must of had a lemon car, have Shop reciept that total 30,000 thank god for my aftermarket warrenty, i only had to pay a fraction of it.

Plus 6000 in mods

Now it's sitting with a blown motor, so here' comes another 5000

armanielite 07-29-06 05:32 PM

94 R2 nearly mint condition w/63k miles = $19,000
$8,000 in receipts when bought

now coming up to around the $20k mark since I have owned it since 01'..and still need more, more, more .... once you start its hard to stop making it your perfect car but its all for the love of this car..not everyone can appreciate that....

dradon03 07-29-06 06:00 PM

20,000$ the car

5,000$ in mods
~650$ maintenance, oil, coolant, fuel filter etc. Since Sept. 2005.

nocomply24 07-29-06 06:15 PM

if you get a good one to start off, the maintenace should not be costing that much. Now the mods i never keep track of how much i spend....life is to short for that, just be happy.

tphan 07-29-06 06:49 PM

Only reason why I got mine...bought new in Conroe, TX 1994...driven by my younger (but older) brother. Car never seen 100 mph until it hand over to me. This car was pampered since day one.

Tell ya what...like the 7 so much I ditched the 408 cid supercharged Cobra

boy i learned that the hard way! sooo true...

Ehron 07-29-06 07:08 PM

Good god. Why do you have to ask that? I have spent about $3500 total on a car that won't pass emissions. So luckily I am saving on gas as I ride my bike to work. :-).

It is fine though. I just keep telling myself I am saving for the 20b.

Farhan 07-30-06 05:47 PM

I bought mine around 5-6 years ago. I've put somewhere around 50-60K into the car alone (NOT including purchase cost of vehicle). I'm STILL not done, but very very close :).

rotoober 07-31-06 10:04 AM

Look at JimLab's post in the other engine forum. Add all of the money up you all have spent, then maybe you will be where he is at... I think he is well over $100k, and it still isn't done!
Me:
Salvaged 42k mile car - $8900
parts to get it back on road - $2100
Performance goodies - $5500
Maint/tires for 2 years -$1800
Total -$18,300 and I've put 30,000 more miles on it!

FDTT19 07-31-06 10:10 AM

Bought the car in Oct 2005 for 14.5k, and have spent roughly 16k on mods/rebuild since.

AMRAAM4 07-31-06 10:26 AM

2003, car was stolen for $10,500 :D

Since:
$25,000 at least
