I have a friend that has his own exporting business here in Japan. He does the auctions and then exports the cars. He just gave me access so I can watch the cars and tell him if there is one I like or one I am looking for. I don't know if they sell just engines, but I can certainly ask. I don't think you want to buy a whole car. There are taxes and things and once you are done with it you have to pay for the shell to be taken away and recycled. It would still be cheaper to just buy an engine.

I see a lot of 7s............but only some of them actually say "sold" on the side. Does it have to say sold...........to actually be sold?

I rememeber when I was at the auction.............the sellers often rejected winning bids if it was not high enough.

Yeah I'm not sure, it's my friend's business not mine. It gives you a rough idea of things though. The premium ones are still selling for under $10,000 and you can get a good one all day long for under $5,000. The bottom of the barrel is around $3,000 or less. But all of them are still way above average quality in the US and way less miles. Mine was only $5k and came with a Cusco LSD, HKS bov and suction kit, a full record of services, and a compression test showing over 8.0 kg/cm on all rotors with only 72,000 KM.

Basically you just can't sell these and they don't move off of a dealership lots. They are too expensive to own and maintain like you are experiencing. Nobody wants them.
