What would be causing problem with heater?

I have flushed the coolant, changed thermostat, and checked to make sure the heater controls were working(climate controls)... And I am still not getting any heat. The temp gauge is reading normally. What else would cause the heater system not to work? Any ideas on troubleshooting this?

THanks

Just to make sure, you are ONLY trying to get heat out of the lower "foot" vents, right?

When you checked the heater controls did you verify that the 'mode actuator' and 'intake actuator' were both functioning? If they're working then you may have a clogged heater core.

I am aware that heat only comes from defroster and foot settings... I'm not that much of a newbie

Vudoodoodoo: Im not leaking any coolant, so i suspect there is no hole...

Im not really educated on the way the heater system operates, if someone can give me a run down on how it works it might help in trouble shooting it...

What i did to test the heater controls was switchd it with a buddy of mines, it worked fine on his, and when we put his on mine, it still didn't work....

I would have to lean to your heater core being clogged, then. Pull it out, and send it to a radiator shop to be cleaned.
My heater is really autonomous about when it wants to work, but I know it is because of the electronic controls.

Section G in the workshop manual addresses the heater; pages 31 through 40 in my ’93 edition.
Go to www.iluvmyrx7.com for online copies.

The Heater Control Unit that directs the operation of several actuator 'motors' mounted in/on the heater assembly itself and each actuator controls one or doors inside the heater unit. The MODE doors directs the flow of air to the various vents. The MIX door directs a variable portion of incoming air (it actual source is controlled by the RECecirculation switch and a 3rd door) through the heater core where it picks up heat. The temperature **** controls the relative positioning of this MIX door and hence the resulting temperature of the warm delivered to the floor vents.

Since you’ve already swapped the Heater Control Unit and didn’t correct the problem, you need to check the MODE and MIX actuators and their linkages. The manual outlines out to individually test these for proper operation.
