what size injectors should i get?

i want to upgrade my boost and i need a power fc, fuel pump and bigger injectors. what size injectors do i need? i was thinking the 1300cc ones. can i controll that with a power fc or do i need an apexi ems? im pretty new with my fd and it runs great. i already know bout getting cat bak, dp and intake and ish like dat. i want to get my car to 12-14lbs of boost. what do i need that i forgot bout? dont blast me either!

Dougie_fresh_007 04-16-03 01:04 AM

well the power fc is a stand alone... and the 1300 cc secondaries should be sufficiant for those boost levels

make sure you flow test the 1600cc ones if you do go with them! They seem to all be a bit off, sometimes by a lot...

If you want to run 12 psi daily:

*cat-back
*downpipe
*intake
*upgraded intercooler
*ecu or Power FC

If you want to run 14 psi daily:

*add 1300cc or 1600cc injectors
*add higher flowing fuel pump

The PowerFC can handle larger injectors.

This is kinda fun to play with...A fuel calculator from Rotary Performance in Garland

if i get the 1300cc secondary injectors what about primary?

artguy 04-16-03 06:32 PM

rp's calculator is way off....at least for me....im pushing 381 at 80 percent...almost a hundred less than they say via that calculator

stock primarys are fine if you are running 14lbs on stock turbos

Jason, 550/1300 at 80% yields 446 flywheel HP, which is about right for 380 RWHP.

Partially inspired by RP's page, I wrote a much more comprehensive one that some of you guys might find useful. This shit isn't rocket science, but it does take some knowledge to understand how it all works together. I have some links and explanatory text on my page that is intended to help you gather that knowledge:

Can someone concur?:)

My goal is running 12psi daily with those above mods...and also a mild street port/ported wastegate.

thanks!
Edgardo

ps. Plausible to add high flow cat into the mix as well without upgrading the fuel system?

Okay i went to maxcooper's link, and i have a question:

Under "max duty cycle" it says the stock 93-95 RX-7 ECu tops out around 63%

I then entered 550 primaries and 1300 for secondary, keeping the max duty cycly option at the stock ecu's max at 63%.

with that setup its says i should be able to support 343Flywheel HP or 292RWHP

Here is the question:
Does that mean with stock ECU and larger 2ndary injectors, I should be good up to 292RWHP? (BTW i have the supra pump as well)

thanks!

you cant run different sized injectors with the stock ecu it doesnt know how to control them

turbogarrett 04-25-03 04:37 PM

get a pfc or the ems if you're planning on larger injectors.with a standalone you can run as much duty cycle as you want( up to 100%). i hear 80% is a good maximum number.
