What is this part under the UIM
I was wondering what this part is and what would happen if this came off? Also, i think it might be the AWS and in that case if i remove it will i need a block off plate?
Thanks ~Luke |
sorry,

Yeah, it is the AWS. Get rid of that freaking thing man! Yes, you will need a block off plate.

what would happen if i dont, and would i just put a cap over the part in the intake elbow?

AWS
If you remove it...youll need 2 block off plates and a cap for the elbow. You can easily create block off plates with .125" aluminum stock. |
What does that do for the motor? emissions?

I took mine off completely......looks very very nice;) I'll post the finished pics when they are......uh finished:o:

AWS Accelerated Warmup System for o2 and precat...it runs your revs high upon startup for quick warmup..yes emissions imho not good on cold starts.. removal is one way of avoiding it but a bypass is as easy as blipping your throttle upon start or start it in gear. |
i don't think you need two block of plate. If you look closly how it's done, onlu one will be necessary if it covers both hole.
Only the one on the solenoid is needed since the pipe takes the air by the solenoid. puma |

Don't u need resistor....?
I have tried to remove the AWS, actually just pluged the hole on the AWS and on the elbow with rubber stoppers, I also unplugged the electrical connector. Well when I went to start the car Which was fully cold, the car would start and die right away. Tried to restart but won't start. So I plugged the electrical connector back in and still won't start. Went ahead and reconnected AWS by removing rubber stoppers and reconnecting harness and car starts right up. So I'm thinking the ECU is looking for a feedback signal, which leads me to think u need a resistor.....? Any input would be great....Thanks...Tony
