what hoses do i need to replace...
hi i j/ bought my 93 rx and am looking to do some reliability mods. i have heard that replacing the hoses is a good idea b/c the car is getting older. what hoses do i need to repalce? i have heard vacuum hoses and what else? i have also heard that you should replace w/ silicone. also, how much will that cost to get all of that replaced? thanks alot
Yeah replacing the vacuum hoses is a good idea. You can buy the hosetechniques kit for around 115$.
You should also check the coolant hoses, as well as the couplers in the intake system.

hose techniques is a company. They have the kit on here, www.hosetechniques.com it includes all the stuff you need to replace the vacuum hoses.

Don't buy the kit. It's overpriced and might not include enough hose in case you mess up. It's primarily for dressing up the engine. It was a lot of diff. size hoses including hose for your wipers. Just get about 35 ft. of 3.5mm and about 10 ft of 6mm. That should cost you about $90 shipped. This will include more than enough hose. You'll have a lot left over and leave you some room in case you mess up. I went with red hose so I can diff. which ones I changed out and which ones were stock black rubber. That and I have red leather in my car so I figured there would be a little matching. l8r.

how difficult is the hose replacement, and do any of the kits come with detailed instructions? I am a fairly good mechanic, and my dad is really good, but all of our experience has been on V-8s and inline 4s, so the rotary is a bit of a mystry.

Changing the hoses is not very difficult, but it is time consuming. You could prolly finish in one day if you started early in the morning and worked all day. Thats also assuming that you don't find anything else that needs to be replaced while you are in there.
Before you start get a shop manual, and you can check this out.
