What have you replaced, that didn't need replacing?
I don't know about the rest of you, but I have had an "issue" or two where certain symptoms led me to replace parts, only to find out that the "bad" part really wasn't bad at all. I'm just wondering what "good parts" some of the rest of you have replaced?
For me: OEM fuel pump to Supra pump. Didn't fix high end break up. New OEM starter solenoid. Didn't fix starting problem. New OEM clutch switch. Didn't fix starting problem. New (stiffer) trailing arm bushings. Didn't make any difference. Pre-spool manual boost controller. Made things worse. Removed it. I'm sure there are other things, but this is all I can remember right now. I feel fortunate that none of these items were very expensive, but they do add up. The stuff listed above probably cost me over $400 .............. and I am a cheap bastard ;) |

whell adam at least you changed things early that where old and going to wear out sooner or later..

Bought new set of twin turbos when I got the car, didn't fix the boost issue.
Bought a new turbo control solenoid, turned out boost issue was a leak, didn't use it. Most recently I bought a tranny on here that has turned out to be bad. Don't know what's gonna happen with that yet. |
Outer toe-link bushings @ ~$50 each.
More recently, a set of plugs. |
Replaced perfectly-functioning 15-year-old OE radiator with aftermarket copper/brass unit as preventive maintenance. Now have too much temperature climb, and fans run too much. Going back to (new) stock unit.

the sequential turbo system...worked flawlessly when I decided to "tinker" with the car.

The only thing I did replace which was defective on my car was the stock catback.

I do not replace parts just because another looks better or is popular. All mine have been to enhance performance or engine reliability. That is why I still have my car since buying it new in June 1992. |

After 30 years of experience, I couldn't agree more. So I almost got rid of the FD at one point-- but in an ironic twist of fate, I canned my old girlfriend instead. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. |

Ignition coils Plugs Plug wires Vacuum tubes Fuel pressure regulator AST Had injectors rebuilt That's all I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there is more. charlie |
I replaced the starter when I didn't have to.

Does replacing parts that might fail in the future count??
If so, EGI relay Fuel pump (went to a supra pump) TPS (i just needed to adjust it) AST (of course) I think thats it really. Everything else is an upgraded part or a wear and tear part that HAD to be replaced. |
It all depends on how you look at it, I suppose.
I replaced a perfectly functioning stock torsen diff because I didn't feel like blowing mine up. Also replaced a perfectly good set of 4.1 gears, and most recently a perfectly good set of stock R series seats :D |

replaced starter, turned out to be a relay issue
replaced egr valve, only to have cell code return replaced ignition switch, turned out to be starter relay issue Starting to get mad now . got to stop ( LOL) Jeff |
