What is that fuzz inside the glove box?

It looks like its just black fuzz sprinkled on glue. Where would I get this stuff and how would I make something similiar to how the glove box is done?

If I remember my elementary school days, you can recreate that fuzzy texture with this powdery stuff from an arts and crafts store. You spray contact cement on, then tumble it on until it covers.

Damn, is it that simple? Would you happen to know the durability of this stuff? Im thinking about coating all the plastic trim pieces in this shit, as well as the dash. Looks like it'd wear off over time and maybe start leaving black fuzzums on you if you rub on it. Id imagine you'd clean it with a sticky roller like you'd clean a shirt with.

I'm not sure, but it seems like it would as durable as the adhesive you use. It would probably wear off with heavy friction.

I really don't think it'll look nice if your entire dash and all the plastic are covered with that stuff...

Not all the plastic. The door skins, and the rear bins and such. Im wrapping the center plastic pieces (ac controls, shifter surround, cluster surround) in carbon fiber.

Ive got no A/C. Im wondering how dirty this stuff can get and how hard it would be to clean.

Id like to find out what was in that scoot 4rotor. It has the dash I'd like to make. I thought about something like suade, but at $400+ a hide it was a bit out of my price range (especially since i bet id have to replace it in 25 years).

that texture collects dust quite a bit.

Mr3plus1 01-02-07 01:04 PM

Does anyone know what was inside the scoot 4rotor?

DGblk93 01-02-07 03:55 PM

Dude why would you do that?

It would look horrendous and would permanently ruin the interior. I don't ever put anyone down on this forum but I have to tell you that this might be one of the worst ideas I have heard yet.

Mr3plus1 01-02-07 05:57 PM

Im just looking for a suade-like material to wrap all the plastic pieces in. Not essentialy the same shit thats in the glovebox. The Scoot 4rotor has alcantara in it.

30 second Google search turns up all the fake suede you want for $8.00 a yard. Good luck

Hey Mike, try a search for a user "RonKMiller"... he did his interior with the alcantara(aka ultrasuede) stuff.

Man that stuff is crazy expensive. I might try some fake suade that I can pick up from a fabric store. Gonna have to waste a bunch of it to figure out how to get it to stick to stuff anyways.

Maybe you have a mold problem?
:') Just kidding
