What do you think about white FD's?
Thinking about maybe getting one,
but not sure. Mechanicaly it's good, and the paint is in really good condition, not sure if I like the white or not, sometimes I think it's kickass, sometimes not all that interesting, just wondering what other ppl thought about white FD's. |
i love white FD's!

Re: What do you think about white FD's?
white is my favorite color
|
I wish mine were white. They're not too common either.
|
white is very nice, hard to find
:bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: :bigthumb: |
White is my favorite color. Had to fly 700 miles to get mine. Had a new FC that was white also. Does not show the dust easily and does not attract the cops as much.

White is ok. They look good when the car is hooked up (rims and body kit). I think that the silver looks better though. I have a red fd and i love it. But if i had the choice, i would choose silver.
|
I know the white FD is desirable because of its scarcity, but I think all white cars look like plastic and they are a PITA!

Haha,
thanks guys, sounds like you're as split on this as I am. Oh well... guess it's back to testin out different colors in gran turismo for me :) I guess i'd probly buy it, but my friend has a white pontycrap(v8 firebird) Good lord is that one UGLY FUCKING CAR! of course, it's not the color thats the problem, but i duno about being parked outside his house next to that thing, and bein the same color... y'know? But the one I'm lookin at is pretty nice! ARRGGHH i hate decisions. |
I can't stand white on any car that's remotely sporty.
it doesn't have the depth and clarity of dark colors. I would never buy a white sports car...ever. |
whites nice
but I think the nicest TurboII (89+) colour is white. They look great. But I think everyone agrees on best FD colour as CYM. But yes white is definately good. http://www.rx-7.org/gallery/2ndgen/images/2-4.jpg |
I like white a lot. That's probably the reason why I want a RZ. Too bad I'll never own one.
|
White not only hides dust, but paint imperfection as well. On a used car, that's something that is important. Red, black and even montego blue shows scratches, swirl marks or dings really well.
White or lighter colors don't shine as much when you polish the paint. It doesn't have that deep glossy wet look. It's more plain -- simply put. At least it's rare right? I think silver and CYM are the best FD colors. I never thought I would buy a white FD until I saw mine in a showroom. It was just perfect and after test driving a silver, black and red one, I knew FDs in good condition are hard to come by. I think I made the right decision. |
Honestly, when I bought my white '94 I was wanting Silver, but that's mainly because I had owned several white cars in the past, so I was really just looking for a change. I never have really liked red on anything (that's just personal taste) and the red does seem to need more care to keep it from fading. Black looks good when it's kept perfectly well, but when it starts to go -- look out! Dings and Cobwebs (the little scratches left behind by using inferior waxes) show up like a neon light at night. Montego Blue is a neat color the way it kinda changes depending on the angle of the light, but it has some of the same issues as black including getting HOT in the summer. CYM is cool too, for the same reason as montego blue. If I had a 3rd Gen Project, it would be CYM without a doubt. But I don't know if I would buy a '93 in order to get CYM, I like the interiors on the '94 and '95 better. Silver is the only color I would consider other than white. Does anyone have the numbers on the rarity of the colors imported for each individual year, or maybe a url???
I think White has the best contrast with the blacked out tail lights, black trim, black tires, and black interior. And I think it show the lines of the car just fine. I think it even looks better at night. Then again, I'm probably biased since that's what color mine is. It (mine) is for sale if you want to see pics, go to the "FOR SALE" section. It's nice, not riced, or heavily modded. Really pretty much stock. I was 30 when I bought it from its first owner (a dentist who was about 40 and had done nothing modification-wise to it) I'm 34 now, and need to buy a house while the time is right. Don't want to sell really cause it's so much fun, but the toys gotta go first (so sayeth my daughter's mother) so the right price takes it. Good luck. |
IMHO
#1 White #2 Vintage Red #3 Black #4 Montego Blue #5 Silver #6 Competition Yellow Mica The Blue Mazda had in recent years is pretty sweet too. If available that would be a 1 or a 2. |
awwwe poor magnificient 7, you gonna get a nice turbo II to keep you at bay?

Stay off the forum when your high, please. nice one..... how bout you stay off the forum when you're going to be a jerk? TII's arent slow. |
I hate white cars. The only way I would ever buy a white rx-7 is if I own a red, yellow, black, silver and montego blue rx-7, then I might take a white one to complete my collection. I think that white is for refrigerators not a buetiful car like a seven. :D
|
Damn. Magnificent 7, calm down a little. No one is insulting you, or sticking thier nose in your business...just chill out.
I didn't know we had so many fans of White FDs on the forum. You guys can have them. I'll never buy one. My list: 1) CYM 2) SSM 3) VR 4) BB 5) MB 6) CW I'll give white one thing, the panels don't get "mismatched", like with my top 3. |
I love my white :D
They are pretty rare.. next to the CYMs. I was looking for either a silver, black, red, or white. I am glad I went with the white. Even though I still really like the look of the Silver. |
I used to own a perfect white 94 PEP. Took two months to find it and it was still perfect when I sold it 20k miles later. Should've never got rid of it though!!!
|
This is a reminder, personal attacks are not tolerated here. If you guys want to ferouisly attck white cars, go ahead, but please refrain from flamming people.
|
mmm
Mmm white FD... *drools* :mspank:
|
|
Hey twinturboteddy, that white RX-7 isn't a legit RZ correct?
|
nah, it's just a sticker.
I cap on him all the time cause of it. |
hey teddy, check your PM's. :)
thanks. |
Wow, nice FD's!!
was pretty sure I wasnt gonna get that white one, but after seeing those pics I'm back to square one, I just cant decide!! I want it, but ... then I dont ... arrrghh!! Hey, in your sig it says "it's 13k now" are you talkin about that CYM ??? if so.. I'll buy it off ya! :) that color takes no thinkin |
I don't like the white. It is my least favorite color for the fd. Not very sporty and hard to make look at shiny as a darker color. Just doesn't stand out enough.
|
I personally like the white 7's. Maybe it's because I have one too.. haha. I do have to admit that the rarer colors I see around here are yellow and white and then silver.

Hmmmmm, considering you could have a nice 89+ for about $3500, which is the cost of uhm, two mods on a FD. And w/ a few mods, you'd be running just as fast as you were as for you thinking turbo II's are slow you got one hell of an attitude. |

TIIs arent slow...but compared to FDs, they are hella slow.
|
with a few mods they can be damn fast
and dont cost near as much plus no rats nest (also no nice lagless sequential) |
Some cars look good in some colors and not good in others.
Buy what you like. Personally I think a white FC looks good, but a white FD sucks. Now go out there and be a man and get what you want! |
Turbo II's do have a rats nest but it isn't near as big as an FD's.
This guy just sent me a pic of my car, don't know him but it was taken right before I bought it. Weird huh? http://www.gsl-se.com/fd.jpg |
Originally posted by Node with a few mods they can be damn fast and dont cost near as much plus no rats nest (also no nice lagless sequential) also, wern't TII's single turbo?? so hoe could it be sequential. Hey node, man I don't think you really know what you are talking about, and if you don't like the rats nest why are you in the 3rd Gen specific section. You could never compare an FC to an FD, stock or with the same amount of mods. I think you just wish you had one so you gotta hate on the ones who do.
|
I saw one about 15 minutes after he crashed last week! DOH!
Looked like he rear ended someone. |

And w/ a few mods, you'd be running just as fast as you were as for you thinking turbo II's are slow you got one hell of an attitude. BTW the FD was the first Mazda, the first RX-7, and the first car ever (I believe) with the Sequential Twin Turbocharger system. Now, on to mods. Three power mods to my car. Power FC $1200(which actually doesn't increase HP, only allows for other HP increasing mods), downpipe $150, and midpipe $150. Now that totals $1500. When you subtract that from $3500, that leaves me $2000 more to spend. Ok, catback $400, upgraded fuel pump $200, cold air intake $200, and stock mount intercooler $1200. That's SEVEN mods, money well spent, and still a daily driver (not a trailered track queen). Now, you're saying you've got an FC...? As far as attitude goes...take a look inside bud. I wouldn't normally take so much pleasure in ripping you to pieces, but you may want to refer to the first page where you brought this shitstorm on yourself. I suggest you don't dish out anything you can't take. Anytime you want, you can bring the rag bag of shit you drive (TII, 89+, 2nd gen., what the fuck ever it is, and whatever fucking color it is) and we can line 'em up, and I'll show you my taillights. BTW...is that your dad/uncle in the background of your pic? Just curious.;) |
