What to do about blown engine??
Well I may be buying a 93 Touring soon, it has 93k miles, the engine is blown(overheated), but the body and interior is immaculate. Anyway, I was wondering what would be the best thing to do about the engine. I could just get a reman mazda for around $2k, but I dont think I could install myself, so thats more money to have it installed. Or should I just take the car to KD Rotary and have it rebuilt with a street port and reliability mods?? How much would that cost?? Just wondering what your suggestions are, and if you could give me estimated costs on either of those I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
It kinda depends on what you want. Personally I'd say take it to KD for the job since they're as good as it gets and you can get it ported (intake, exhaust, oil passages, coolant passages) and get really good quality apex seals and o-rings. If I recall it's around $5500 or so...maybe less for the whole job, but from what I hear he's kinda busy so it might take a while. A reman motor is a good idea if you're gonna stay totally stock and want stock-like driveability. I think to pull your old motor and put the reman in it would equal out to be roughly the same..maybe a bit less. Check their website out: www.kdrotary.com for a list of prices. Good luck
I suggest you put in the extra $$ now while you are replacing the engine. Just a street port and some oil mods. would be good to get and serve as a strong base for further mods. down the line.
what is this remen motor that you guys are mentioning? For some reason the kenesis comes to mind, but I'm prolly wrong...like ususal.
EDIT: And what's up with KDRotary having rx7forums.com's ad on their homepage? I don't get it...
