What could be the problem?

I've started having this problem (I think) that happens intermittently but not very often. This has happened in only 3rd and 4th gear, when the primary turbo has kicked in and I've had WOT I've got full boost but then before the secondary turbo had come on my revs have gone high (over 5000-7000rpm) with no more acceleration (like I've had the clutch all the way in which I hadn't). Eventually the secondary comes on but then I could smell something burning (the burning only happened once). I had a microtech installed over a year ago, any ideas?

Clarification

Problem is instead of smoothly transitioning from the first to the second turbo (continuous acceleration) after the first turbo gets full boost I get high revving with no acceleration (as if I'd put the clutch right in). I usually had backed off when this has happened (doesn't always happen). The time I didn't back off the second turbo did come on and I maintained full boost but then I could smell something burning, think it was chemical like and from the car although not 100%.

It is clutch I'm sure. Growing RPMs without increase in speed show engine "separating" from wheels. The fact it happens when 2nd turbo kicks in just shows that you have increase in torque and clutch giving up. Then you smell it. I had same issue but it was on 4th gear only (have to drive fast to see it on 5th ).

It will get better when you warm clutch up a little. But it's going out. Fact that it slips on 3rd is that it's even worse. I would stop driving car after you start feeling it on 2nd gear.

It started on 4th gear last week, was intermittent and was chasing the problem, now the other day it started on 3rd but that's only happened twice.
