Weird sound from suspension *video*
 

The sound started slowly since I installed a kit bought on J-Auto.net.
It looks like this (Delrin bushings):

At first I thought it was the shocks, so I changed them today for Tein HR Coilovers.

Still the same weird sound, coming from all 4 wheels.


Could I have tightened the bushings too much?

Should I grease every single bushings bolts?

Delrins binding. I'd suggest installing zerk fittings to let you periodically grease everything up.

Did you grease up the bushings? They normally come with grease. Without being greased they will bind up and make all kinds of awful noises. Think about it - you have metal rubbing against hard plastic. It's going to grab/give/grab/give and make a noise in the process.

...like dguy was saying. you need grease. if you did not grease them up before putting them in i would remove them asap. all that friction/heat will cause excessive wear fast.

Where should I grease the bushings? I remove each bolt, put grease on them and tight them back?

Do I also need to grease the pillowballs?

Grease all moving parts (anything that comes in contact with each other) with the exception of the threads of course. Yes, lube bolts and bushings.

Ok and do I need to remove the metal cylinder in the center of each bushing?

I'm not sure how to do it.

Yep, remove the metal cylinder. Most bushings have pockets in the rubber/delrin part around that metal cylinder to help hold the grease in there. When in doubt, grease it up.

Well you were right, I did only rear bushings tonight and I hear no more noise. What a frustrating job.

The cylinder was very dry.

Should I do this job every year? This would be a PITA.

That's why some people put zerk fittings in the suspension arms. You can then use a grease gun to grease the bushing.

Many poly bushings have grooves that hold the lubricant in place so you rarely if ever need to lube them. Delrin bushings are pretty hard core non-compliant bushings.
