get that fat supra at it's own and only game!

BoostedRex 09-13-03 04:06 PM

Very nicely done!!!! I love to see MKIV's lose to us in drag races!! I've slain a few myself and nothing feels better! Your car sounds GREAT too by the way.

oakridgerx7 09-13-03 06:00 PM

that turbo tuff catback sounds really good without being too loud, at least I think. especially for the $113 that I paid for it.

911GT2 09-13-03 09:27 PM

damn, you smoked him in that second race. Nicely done!

T88NosRx7 09-14-03 02:09 AM

that was one hell of a second race.

The Supras only game? Have you ever heard of the GT series in Japan? The mostly hottly contestet race series in Japan that features NSX's, 350Z's, Skylines, etc going at it and guess what cars almost always win? Supras.

Dalen 09-14-03 08:50 PM

what kind of power is that supra pushing?

By no means degrading the Supra as I run one myself but the JGTC 500 series Supras are nothing like the ones on the street. They run 3S-GTE four bangers to save weight and have composite bodies.

oakridgerx7 09-15-03 04:57 PM

the supra is BPU so that would put it somewhere around 425 at the rear wheels.

Just to add to the argument that JTCC Supras aren't even close to their road-going counterparts, the "3S-GTE" in those cars isn't even a 3S-GTE (that's just Toyota's marketing hype). It's actually something called a 503E and it's been used in both IMSA GTP (the Gurney cars) and the famous Rod Millen Celica/Tacoma car. The 503E is capable of over 1000HP on only 2.1 liters at over 50psi. The layout of the 3S-GTE and 503E are very similar, but the parts are not. Here's a blurb from Toyosport:

"The most famous and successful Toyota Race engine- the 503E was used in Toyota's Triumphant Championship seasons in IMSA GTO / GTP, Pikes Peak, Le Mans, and in the mid-90s Japan Touring Cup Championship. It is important to note that the 16 valve cylinder head layout from the 152E engine and the T block crankshaft saddle design were used as design base for this ultimate Toyota 4 cylinder Turbocharged race engine. The 503E represented the most powerful 4 cylinders in competition history developing over 1000HP in qualifying tune, 800HP for sprint races, and 600 for endurance events. "

The Japanese teams used to be heavily regulated to match the silhouette of the production cars, but as you can see this has fallen by the wayside to a serious degree. Any connection to a JTCC car and its production car inspiration is tenuous at best. Comparing this "Supra" to your RX7 is apples and oranges.
