Undertray bolts
Undertray bolts
I have searched pretty hard for this answer and can't seem to find anything. I assume that the undertray bolts are a 10mm but does anyone know what size? As in how long? I mean I can't imagine these little 10mm bolts holding up that tray, maybe they do...I don't know. Or if you can point me into the right direction that would be great thanks...
Length isn't THAT critical as long as they can reach the captured nuts in the front. They hold up the undertray just fine, and the two rear-most don't have to be long at all.
They're not hard to come by. I'm all for calling Malloy for stuff, but a trip to the local U-Pull-it lot and you can load your pockets for the price of admission. I must have two dozen or more in my spare fastener tray. I like the plated ones with the un-threaded tips and sort of an integrated flat washer for the front. Easy to start and you don't have to worry about them getting rusty and sticking in those captured nuts and tearing the front lip/bumper cover. Which I could see happening with plastic parts being held with zip-ties.

They are the standard machine thread (as opposed to self tapping) bolts that you use a 10 MM wrench on, I was putting them on my car earlier this evening and borrowed some from a parts box for my Miata. As another poster mentioned, the ones with the captured larger washer are good to use to spread the load and help keep the plastic intact. If you wanted to get totally ****, you could purchase stainless steel bolts which won't rust (at least the higher grade ones won't) and lock to the tinnerman clips. I noticed on my car that the outer rear holes don't have welded nuts on the crossmember, but you can get to the topside of the crossmember to put nuts in place, at least if you don't have a transmission shield. You can get bolts at the hardware store, 20 MM thread length is probably enough, not worth the effort to order them from the dealer unless you want your car to be all stock

Yes they are 10mm, they do not have a flat end at the end (look like self-tapping screws), and have washers.
I got them from ebay for about 15, the seller is a reputable member of the community too.
Search for "rx7 undertray bolts."

I have found aftermarket bolts and plastic clips that work AWESOME to replace the stock bolts. They're $15 shipped for a set of 12 bolts and 2 plastic clips.
PM me for details.
