turbo simplification pics
I removed the airpump (installed a midpipe) and though id do the simplification while i was in there:
Here is one of rx7store.net's block off plates: http://www.myrx7.com/images/acv_blockoff.jpg I used the bottom part of the old solenoid rail as the foundation for the solenoid remaining after the simplification. http://www.myrx7.com/images/so_rail1.jpg I have the stock fuel system so i kept the fpr solenoid, here is apic of it part way though the rerouting: http://www.myrx7.com/images/so_rail2.jpg |
You used silicone tubing for a coolant hose? Unorthodox.
|
hey jonski, ...by the way thanks for all ur great posts on the simplification, those helped me a great deal, especially on the fpr deal...
silicone is fine for coolant from my limited understanding, it is a no-no for oil and gas.... i run evens at zero pressure so the only issue is heat, at silicone easliy takes the heat level of the coolant. am i wrong? heck, my radiator hoses are silicone :-) http://www.myrx7.com/images/therma1.jpg http://www.myrx7.com/images/therma2.jpg http://www.myrx7.com/images/therma3.jpg http://www.myrx7.com/images/therma4.jpg http://www.myrx7.com/images/therma5.jpg |
Where did you get the resistors for the solenoid plugs? Or do you have PFC in that car, (can't remember between the 2 you have.) I tried radio shack and they looked at me like I was from space!! " I've never seen a resistor that rating" BTW: Looks better with the pressure tank under the UIM. Aybody had any issues with the tank do to the heat it is now exposed to?( I.E. : cracking or melting?)
|
hey bigisland7,
i have the pfc in both cars so no resistors needed...all worked great so far :-) |
let me g'ahead and rate this thread too ;)
GOOD WORK. I like emissions, and like to say I'm close to 400bhp while passing :D |

Where did you get the silicone radiator hoses?
|
Just one question... why yellow?!? :D
|
hehehe Jim,..... yellow is cool!!!
on any other color I would not use yellow, but it contrasts with the MB very well, and im kinda artsy fartsy so i like it. |

hehehe :-)
|
Actually, I trust Damians artistic talent, if he can make those awesome videos, he can tell what colo fits his car best. Kudos Damian!
|
thanks :-)

I was wondering u know that vac line going no where on the simplification diagram i'm curious where it goes to? in the simplification diagram it looks it should go to the lim where it has those 4 nipples are. How did you hook the pressure chamber up?
|
i left the the pressure chamber hooked to where it gets pressure in stock form, down by the y pipe area.
what hose goes nowhere on the diagram? |
damian where did you get those checkvalves and the inline splitter with 3 nipples?
|
inline splitter with 3 nipples got from a local napa autoparts store, the checkvalves are from mcmaster car, here is my thread on it:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=check+valves |
Which simplification did you do the one on the Rob Robinette's site?
|
if you look on the simplification diagram there is one hose coming off the ypipe that's going no where
|
nm nm i understand now haha foolish me, I'm guess one of the sets of 4 nipples on the LIM (goes right through it) gets plugged off because the elimination of the EGR?
|

Very very good damian! I want to do the non-seq simplification myself. I give you mad props for doing it yourself with great info back to us. I just don't have the time, spec, or real tools do really do this myself. Someday I will be able to do anything on my car myself :p: Again, thanks for all the great info and pics damian! :D

thanks rx7spiritR

damian is that where you got the simplification? Also I read your previos post about the RX Manual Boost Controller. Since I dont even have cash for THAT, I had to do that 5$ home depot special (which got more expensive actually to 8$ per controller). Anyways I fixed my primary boosting but for some reason my secondary still gets no boost. I look at the turbo system design and I relealize that my Actuator (trubo control) (secondary turbo) probably does not have a pill in it, which would explain why I probably get little to no boost. Any comments?
|
hmm, if its get zero boost then its somthing else, like the ccv is venting it all or one of the gates is not opening/closing.... but if it gets some boost that is a differnet story
>>damian is that where you got the simplification? what did you mean by this question? i just used the simplification digaram if that is what you ment |
Which simplification did you do the one on the Rob Robinette's site?
Thats what I meant. |
haha thank you for being so helpful to the rx7 community!!! this dude's great haha
|
Thermal Flex went out of business. Thats why we have been so busy lately.

Originally posted by damian yep, did that one with a few of my own modifications |
ohh, just using the stock place for the pressure tank source and using the bottom of the stock solenoid rack as my foundation ... just read my first post (hehehhe)
|
You don't need the PRC solenoid. Seriously.
Hot starts only - and it's rarely an issue. |
ohh well, its in there now and its all back together..... :-)

Kevin, do you remember the good old days when people running non-sequential were considered idiots who couldn't or were to lazy to fix the sequential control system? :D
I can remember when I could count the number of non-sequential cars on one hand... you, Todd Serota/Trev Dagley, Jim Dagley, me... BTW, You don't need the PRC solenoid. Seriously. Hot starts only - and it's rarely an issue. :D |

so what is the name of your company and do you make a similar radiator hose for the 3rd gen? is this you guys: |
>>Is there a big enough market for me to invest in a $3000-$5000 on a tool to make radiator hoses for the 3rd gen?
porbably not :-( >>Yes that is us cool, I just purchased some couplers from you a few days back, but I was a dummy and ordered the wrong size :-( |
well, did I take care of it? or are you just waiting to get the right size? We are making black 4 ply Aramid hose and transition now. We should be done within 2 weeks.
