Is it true? Fuel Filter

I have been told the Fuel Filter for a FD is the same as the one used in the miata of that model year. Now the part numbers are not the same so I wanted to confirm whether it is or isn't the same. Thanks guys

Prophet7000 06-08-07 11:39 AM

I haven't heard that one before. Why not just buy one from RP for $25? Do you already have a miata one? If you change it yourself be prepared for cursing. Its a pita.

onesick7 06-08-07 11:56 AM

Sorry this might sound total newbie but what is RP?

Prophet7000 06-08-07 12:26 PM

oh sorry. RP = rotary performance = rx7.com

CareBear 06-08-07 05:03 PM

Where is the fuel filter located on the FD?

Natey 06-08-07 05:05 PM

under/behind the subframe.

You can get a replacement filter from O'Reilly's, PepBoys, AUTOZONE, etc for about $9 that is an OEM replacement filter.
I've bought a couple of them.

IN THE WORST SPOT POSSIBLE!

joeydinc 06-16-07 02:19 AM

ya I started removing mine and gave up. somebody gave me a good idea I'm going to try, remove/cut the hoses from the old ones and run new lines to a new one thats in an easier location!

XxMerlinxX 06-16-07 04:13 AM

He should try removing the parts he owes people instead of the fuel filter, IMHO.

He should probably learn how to spell before doing any of that:

"Reparing Trader Rep. =("

You = F-A-I-L !!!!

Prophet7000 06-16-07 08:59 AM

I did it using these instructions:

http://www.rx7.org/Robinette/fuel_filter_replace.htm

You can do it with needle nose pliers and a small set of locking pliers without pulling any of the lines if you take your time, attack from intelligent angles, and have small girly hands (like me).

Monkman33 06-16-07 06:11 PM

Since you will be working on your car, you can pull the parts you owe people.
