Tps out of adjustment (vta2)
 

Hello,
I'm having this issue with my throttle position sensor and I can't get one of the adjustments in spec. When the petal is not being compressed, VTA2 is reading 4.85v. With the petal compressed it reads out 4.95v. It's almost like it's getting voltage constantly or is shorted out somewhere. Does anyone have the wiring diagram for the tps and where the wires lead? Has this happened to anyone and do you have any idea where I should be looking? I've replaced the sensor with a brand new one and as well as the connector. Thank you and have a nice day.

Sounds like the new sensor isn't indexed on the cam properly.

Yes... this is the implication but then it doesn't explain what was going on with the original tps. Likely the case though

I unplugged the sensor and both readings are giving me 0 volts when the sensor is left alone and both read 4.99 volts when the sensor is fully opened up.

I tried to re clock it by facing the connector (orange side) to the hood and turning it towards the passenger side. I didn't hear a click when I turned the sensor like someone else said in another form. The sensor popped right into the hole and turned easliy to the passenger side until it reached the bolt hole and encountered resistance from the throttle spring.

after reclocking it, the new readings I'm getting is 0 volts all the time. Is there something I'm missing here?

I don't think a text explanation will get the point across. Post a video of what you're doing.

The suspicion is that you're not installing it correctly on the tabs inside the throttle body causing the issue that you have. Your description of events certainly points that way.

Passenger's side? is this a RHD car?

It's a left hand drive, the post i read could've been for a right hand drive.

TPS faces the left side of the car. Preload is set by installing the Sensor with the connector portion at around 10 o’clock and rotating counter clockwise.

I installed the sensor just how you described and now I'm back to my original issue, which is vta2 is getting 4 volts all the time. I'll look at a wiring diagram and track down where vta 2 is coming from and look for a short. I don't know what else to do at this point.

before chasing wires, lets confirm it is not user error. simply installing it in the correct orientation doesn't make for a proper install. post the video when you get a chance of what the vta voltages do when you actuate the tps by hand NOT installed on the throttle body. depending on the result, we can solidify if the issue is installation error or if you have an actual electrical problem.

Check continuity from ECU pin 3F to the green/red wire on the TPS connector

The voltage video, although fast, shows it goes through the range fully and cleanly. Do it slower next time to watch the voltage climb gradually and evenly.

The install video looks like it shows the problem. When installed correctly, the tps should naturally have a little spring to it to force it backwards or the opposite direction of how you're twisting it. It looks like you let it go and it just remained in its position.

Those 2 gold tabs you see sticking out of the throttle body go on the 2 surfaces on the back of the tps. If you post a picture of the back of the tps i can circle it for you

That is not an FD TPS. What are you trying to use?

it's from ksv looms, they had tps for fds on their website in August this year. I would guess it's compatible if it says it's for an fd.

Looks like the tab orientation should work, but it might have a different pin out. I know it is not from an FD so no telling what the configuration is. When Mazda discontinued the FD TPS I researched a lot of sensors that would bolt on, none actually had full and narrow range resistance where the FD needs it. You need to contact the seller and get a pin out, I can’t find the product on the site.

Looks similar to the one from Raceonly that specifically states “TPS unit is compatible with all ECU’s except OEM and a PowerFC”
