TPS connector repair
3rd gen. Finally found my TPS problem. An intermittent ground connection inside the TPS connector. Does anyone know how to remove the connectors from the shell?
I think I could repair the connection if I could get the ground connector out. |
I personally don't. Moving the thread to the main section to get more input.

Which side of the connection? Emission harness or the actual TPS itself?

The only person I've ever seen on an internet forum from Waxhaw

I'm a ways away from my car right now, so I can't check.
But, I want to say it's possible. All pinned connectors should be removable from the shell. I'm sure the TPS will not be easy though. If you can't get it, then find a used one, & solder in the wiring. |
Yeah, the TPS isn't hard to back the pins out of. If the plastic plug is damaged, hit up a junkyard and look for other Mazdas, Mazda used that same TPS connector on a number of models. Get one from the junkyard to experiment on, learn how to back the pins out, then swap out.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get it apart, repaired the break with solder. I now have TPS voltages within specs.

Yeah the Sumitomo ones are tricky. You have to pop the orange lock plate out and then the pins are held in by two pin retainers for each pin, one on the top, one on the bottom, but you already figured that out. Just thought I would share for others.

my harness-side TPS connector went bad. lopped it off and replaced it with an extra off a part-out.
