Tired of sweating in your car? Get this!

Actually, I don't know that it will work well or not, but my tuner told me about a similar device that was in a car that he was driving. He said that it worked really well. I don't know if this is a common problem, but my back sweats a lot in my car even with the AC on sometimes. Maybe this device will help. I ordered it this morning. Around $40 shipped.

I hope not! Actually, I brought up the problem of excessive heat inside the car, and the topic came up. I just don't like getting out of the car with a white dress shirt stuck to my back! :p:

7racer 10-31-04 10:00 PM

littlemilla3 10-31-04 10:29 PM

do those things go over the seats or under, because they are quite ugly!

oneflytrini 10-31-04 11:18 PM

What's the supply for the cold air entering through the bottom?

artowar 11-01-04 12:43 AM

I suggest that you reverse the fan, and duct the outlet into the intake manifold. Depending on your diet, you could see a boost of 5 to 20% in mileage :)

It says in the product description that it pulls ambient air through that hole via a fan. If you point the a/c vent below the steering colum at that opening, it would probably work really well. Better yet, build a duct from that vent to fan on the seat. Too bad you'd be tripping over it getting in and out of the car.

What? :rlaugh:

InsaneGideon 11-01-04 10:11 AM

Bah, just rest your back on a miniature air-hockey table. ;)

I think Saab once had a similar feature built into one of its sedans. The seat was perforated and pulled air into the seat, but vented out of the car... not as environment-friendly as Artowar's idea though. ;)

RX794 11-01-04 10:21 AM

Mercedes has this as a factory option in most of their cars.

Um...I guess if you care what your seat looks like when your car is parked and someone is looking in your window. Otherwise, I'm usually sitting in the seat; therefore, I'm more concerned with being comfortable rather than worrying about what my seat looks like. It's not like it's permanent. If I made a point to show someone my interior, I would take the 30 seconds to remove the pad.

It seems like that is the effect that this pad is trying to produce. The air-hockey table would probably be great for your posture though!

So instead of having the A/C circulate, you redirect into the seat pad? Doesn't seem like it'd work too great, but if someone wants to try and report back to us, by all means...

Scrapiron7 11-01-04 02:43 PM

My buddies 04 Navigator has A/C cooled seats. I wonder if we could rig up something like that :)

littlemilla3 11-01-04 05:34 PM

I think the best idea would to have a duct run from one of your a/c vents directly up your pantleg.

pianoprodigy 11-01-04 05:42 PM

I think this device operates more on the premise that some air should be flowing behind you (in between your back and the seat) to keep you from sweating. Of course, the cooler the air is, the better; however, I think just circulating ambient air will be sufficient in most circumstances to keep my back cool enough to keep me optimally comfortable.
