Time to Release Anger *vacuum hoses*
 

Well I just lost it, so Im taking a break. Im *trying* to do the vacuum hose job, yet I cant even get the selenoid track off. I checked:

Already and printed both out. Now my problem are the phillips screws on the back of the selenoid rack. Any ideas how to get to them?? Its a mission.

I just did this to mine yesterday. I removed the entire assembly with the fuel line tubes attached. Here is link with pics.

Now back out to the garadge to remove the primary injectors.

This is a bitch, and I was tired of fucking with it, so I took it to a shop.

I dont have the money for a shop which is why Im doing it myself. The vacuum system looks difficult but not impossible. Another thing is I dont trust any shops here in Miami. I wish I could just take out those 4 f*cking screws.

All you had to do is ask for a good shop in miami :p:

I'd recommened Dragon motorsports. I haven't taken my FD personally there, but know someone who did and was always happy.

Of course, there is always Pettit Racing.

I got those screws out with those little 90 degree bent phillips from sears. My god be with you if you strip them :eek:

Actually, I DID end up stripping one. I had to get a chisel, and slowly hit it at the edge towards turning it out. Eventually it came out.

Just take it easy and follow each hose one by one and study the vacuum diagram. Don't try to do too many hoses at once. Change em one at a time when you can, and try to code each hose. Like putting 3 little lines with a solenoid that is attached to something else and putting 3 little lines there also. I would actually offer to help, but I am just WAAAAY too busy with school work. Like some of us, we come here for a quick break :)

Get out a dremel. Makes life lots easier. Screws are cheap.

Problem with that is you'll have the head removed but will still have to eventually deal with the rest of the screw in the hole.

If I can kill them with a dremel I will, what do I do with the dremel? Cause I have one and Im willing to start killing LoL

Get a small locking vice grips and that should do the job! That's how I got the screws out from the backside. Good luck!

and the visegrips aint a bad idea, too, but my hands were too big to get them to close :(

I give you credit for even trying it :) I have had no problems with my seq system and dread the day I need to dig into that rat's nest.

I had the same fear until I started in on it yesterday. I haven't had any problems with my rats nest and hope I don't in the future. My problem was with my injectors and my FPD. I just hope I can reasemble everything correctly.

Curious, what problems were you having with those?

Best part is I found a relatively loose hose after I removed the manifold. I guesse it got loose and just went down. BTW I suggest every replace those screws with allen bolts, no stripping and better. Just a suggestion. BTW still no progress on getting that dam thing out.

hang in there. if you can't get the screws off the back or front then i would recommend undoing the fuel lines and taking the entire assembly off if you feel comfortable. replacing the screws with allen bolts is a great idea too. i have done it for two cars. remember to depressurize the fuel system before doing it though.

You guys are working way too hard to get those little bastards off:

1. squirt a DROP of PB Blaster on the threads, let it
sit overnight. Don't get it in the slots on the screw head!

2. Buy a NEW #2 Phillips head bit - a couple of bucks.

3. Insert bit into a small socket and use your ratchet to back it out 1/4 turn at a time. Keep a little extra "forward" pressure on the ratchet head with your hand to make sure it stays in the slots. They'll come right out.

4. No swearing, no cutting, no dremels, no vise grips, no chisels. No worries!;)

try getting them back in HE...HE..HE! It really sucks to get all of the tabs to line up.

I got a set of adjustable pliers and they came out with that and liquid wrench. w00t w00t. Man I hope I can do this. BTW What are the chances of the selenoids being dead? Like not working. It would suck that I do this whole Vac job and I still have problems because of crappy selenoids.

hmmmmm i got mine out with out even a slightest problem.

I think this was because it was FREAK'N cold when i did mine. I also wacked the screw driver with a hammer (learned that from butterfly removals).

All the bolts on my turbo was pretty lose too. Barely any force to remove them all.

They are leaking fuel.
