Think I can get my car running in 2 weeks?

I just started to work on my car again and here are some pics from a couple days ago. I spend the past 3 days working on the subframe (finally done :-D). I'll post my progress if anyone is interested with daily/bi-daily pics.

2 weeks!!!!!! good luck! What kinda of turbos are you planning to put on there? Any custom manifolds?

pluto 04-14-04 01:02 AM

Thumper T88. Turbo should be here by tomorrow. I already got the E11 sitting on my desk. Still need to order clutch and ignition box

i think you can, i have seen it done before (sky just got his 3rotor running in his fc :))

it just takes will power, well that and a good tig welder and a chop saw :) and a bank account

mazdaspeed00 04-14-04 02:23 AM

damn 2 cyms in the same pic

Nameless 04-14-04 02:30 AM

Do a detailed writeup? That'd be nice for us dreamers to see what its all about.

DeaconFrost 04-14-04 02:41 AM

very nice. What are you expecting out of it power wise?

skunks 04-14-04 05:23 AM

how many turbos you plan on running? you gonna go all out and do a triple turbo system like sky?

cruiser 04-14-04 05:24 AM

You know what I love most about the underhood look for those 20b's - the intake manifold IS GORGEOUS !!

2 weeks for 20b install ? :p:

Maniac ;)

93BlackFD 04-14-04 07:44 AM

i dunno steve, took 16hrs for you to swap a transmission out

fastcarfreak 04-14-04 07:52 AM

i sure hope you do. that is gonna be nice. What kind of power are you expecting? dont do a write up because it will take away from you work time, and i want to see this thing done.

r71 04-14-04 07:56 AM

I got dibs on the subframe design.

jspecracer7 04-14-04 08:20 AM

ANOTHER 20B CYM?!?!?!?

I think Dragon did his 20B swap in about 25 days from the very beginning so 2 weeks left and the engine's already in...no problemo.

Didnt he already say single T-88?

93BlackFD 04-14-04 09:00 AM

people never read threads, they all have ADD

DamonB 04-14-04 09:03 AM

I bet you can get it running, but I then wouldn't drive it all the way to Indy without having time to sort it. I'd trailer it.

SPOautos 04-14-04 09:08 AM

Are you going to swap the ignition over to magnetic pickups and coils?

You plan on rebuilding the engine or are your going to leave it alone for now

BTW - Its looking good man

If anyone could, I'd figure it to be you.

Now I want to hear this. I think we've all got some stories of an easy job that turned into a nightmare, always good for a laugh.

93BlackFD 04-14-04 09:17 AM

i was picking on him, it was in his 4 runner, 4x4...auto tranny, me, steve, and carson (dubulup) all worked on it for about 16hrs straight

put it this way, we got the tranny in, and then the motor wouldn't turn over....so we had to take it back off, not sure what we did, but the second time around worked

then we found out the transfer case had a crack in it after it was installed/running

he made it from atlanta to birmingham and i think bryan from BNR welded the case up for him

You can't say that...it'd be more like it took 3 of us 16hrs to swap out a tranny :p:

*edit...dayem it...Brian, beat me to it.

Steve, wtf is that thing that looks like an ACV, in the 1st pic? Are you trying to get this thing to pass emissions?

93BlackFD 04-14-04 09:25 AM

yeah carson, but i spelled your username correct finally :)

pluto 04-14-04 10:01 AM

As of this morning, the engine is out and apart. I'm gonna spend the next 2-3 days street porting and rebuild. Looks like I'll have to replace the rotor housings with 13B since these housings have some wear. Here're some pics of the subframe and engine disassemble.
