strange kaaz diff problem
Okay, I've had my KAAZ installed for about 6 months now. I broke it in just like tha manual said on Redline oil, then switched to the KAAZ oil afterwards. I always had the notorious clunking. Well, this weekend I replaced all my pillowball bushing and installed some pettit diff mount bushings. After I got done, I noticed my diff didn't clunk anymore, then the next day it started again. That might have just been by chance. The weird thing is that now it only does it when i turn left. When I turn right, it's smooth as could be. The diff still operates the way it should. I cut some donuts just to be sure! lol I didn't know if I should be concerned or if I still have a loose spot in the mounting. It actually feels like a bad bushing versus just some clunking. Any ideas fellas?

I had the same problem with mine.
I've had my 93 for 2 years and always had the hard clunking sound at the rear of my car when getting of first gear and when shifting hard. I never really found out what was causing it but I was told it would be my pillowball bushings(6) . I guess I waited too long because it damaged my diff causing a bad winding noise when deccelerating and leaked all the gear oil through the companion flange. Anyways I am going with KAAZ and 4.30 gears As soon as I pick it up I will let you know if it solved the problem I think you should of changed the pillowballs at the same time but hey I learned. Hopefully your KAAZ just needs adjusting but againg you can rebuild the clutch packs Hope for the best |
you guys should try the kaaz fluid...i used it another clutch diff and it worked great!

i've replaced just about every bushing there is and i use the kaaz fluid. there's no reasoning behind it. i mean the rear-end performs like it should, but when i'm turning in 1st gear at a low speed when turning left, it feels like the clutches are grabbing violently, but is smooth when going straight or right

backlash set incorrectly ?
|
it's possible, but i don't see why it would do it only going to the left. oh well, i guess while she's down for the winter, i might re-set everything and see what it does

do what I did.
Do about 5 doughtnuts w/ out stopping if your able to once w/ the steering wheel turned left, once to the right. i did this on my 240sx, and before it clunked like none other, and after i did it... it never clunked again... u have to get the lsd to engage fully so the teeth are set peeze |
did you try taking a look at your trailing arms? Cause that's what was wrong with mine, just replaced them.
|
i've done a few donuts, but not real tight ones, i might have to do that tomorrow and see if it helps it any.
also, i've replaced the pillow ball bushings, diff bushings, trailing arms, toe links. i don't think that's the issue here |
