stock twins
i want to be able to hit 11's in the quarter mile consitently. i also want to do this safely on the stock twins. i have the apexi gt spec catback, 3" downpipe and 3"offroad midpipe, apexi intake, unorthodox full pulley set, greddy frontmount intercooler, apexi avc-r boost controller, and still looking into ecu's and wheels. i am an average driver so i a, not the worst or best. please help!!!

Get yourself a PFC or some kind of ECU. Then its all up to how you tune it and how well you can launch and drive your car.

yea i smell danger for your set up. get that ecu already.

Dragging is as much the driver as it is the car. As others have suggested, you should look into an aftermarket ECU. As for wheels, if you are dragging you should probably keep your stock wheels for that and look into some drag radials or something along those lines. Deciding on the ECU depends on what your goals are for the car. Check this following thread which has an ECU discussion: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...hreadid=141780 Good luck. |
I have seen a stock motor with stock twins run a high 11. Although now hes running mid to low 11's all the time.
Go to NE section and look at Boostn7's posts. Hes making over 400 hp with his setup. Its seems that he has similar setup to you with the execption that he has a PFC. Its very possible to run 11's with your setup. I have a dp and catback without a midpipe. I was making 280 RWHP and ran a 12.6 on regular tires. Come spring time I will have a mp, ic, pullys, radials and more and I dont think I should have a problem running 11's. |

i'd like to find out what mods he has to be running those times. Also how much a full non-seq conversion would run price wise.

You can achieve the same results on a ported motor with less boost which in turn will help keep the turbos lasting a little longer (as others have done recently like RTS3GEN and Don't Be A Rikki to name a few). As for the full non-seq conversion, here are the instructions here: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/non-sequential.html I have no idea what labor would cost to have it done. Most people either do it themselves or have it done when their turbos are rebuilt/upgraded. |
I figured that when they said stock twins they ment without replacing the original turbos. Yes he has done the full non sequential but its still with the stock turbos.
I have personally seen boostn7 run numerous times at the track and he ran 11.5's at the rx7 sura meet. How long his turbos will last I dont know. From what I have seen they are very strong. If you ask me if he runs that much boost at the track and thats it besides some tuning I am sure they will have alot left in them. |
Btw I still have the sequential setup when I ran the 12.6. I am on a quest now to run 11's with the sequential setup. I usually run about 14-15 psi.

Everything has a life span. All I stated was that running the turbos that high will shorten the life span that much more. Even running the turbos at 12 PSI will shorten the life span over running at 10 PSI. |
I definately agree. I figured that when and if I blow out my turbos thats when I will go bigger and hopefully by then I will be ported and have enough mods to support that bigger turbo.

Originally posted by Mahjik Well, the reason I don't consider the full non-seq conversion stock is that it does yield more power (due to removing the flaps/actuators). That's almost like saying the BNR upgrades are still stock since they use stock housings. Granted, not as extreme.... . |
I'm modding my car this year and after reading this thread i got alittle curious myself about what i will run on the 1/4 mileĻ. Not that i'm building a drag car or anything, im heading for the track. Anyways here are my mods:
custom dp, custom catback, pettit highflow, airfilters, pettit power pulley kit-lightened, AEM ECU. I havent mounted anything yet, won't be finished until late march-early april when the car also will be pro tuned. Anyways alot of you that will read this are probably tired of hearing people asking q's like this one so you don't need to answer since a time on the strip isnt all that important to me only curiosity. |
