Stock Alternator fitment issues

4 Attachment(s)
well i conducted a search and have not found any issues like the one i am having

first off, my alternator died on me last week, ok fine no big deal to change right? all is going smooth and i take out the stock alternator to replace it with an "aftermarket stock" alternator but i quickly find out it doesn't fit the stock mount bracket.. i have a 1992 rhd FD.. the fact that its a 1992 and a rhd shouldn't have an affect on the bracket size would it? i mean the alternator is sooo close to fitting and looks exactly the same.. its almost as if the machining process was just a few 16ths of an inch off..

has anybody ran into this issue before? i'm kinda stuck now and am trying to source out another alternator with no luck so far.. (not really interested in a rebuild btw)

If bought from local parts store see if they have another one if there all like that ...
Could grind down the thicker leg ... or swap out the new and old guts

Take it back. Get one somewhere else if they dont have one that fits.

yeah it was from a local store and i'll have no problem returning it, i might have to just swap the guts worst case scenario if i cant find another one. im a bit hesitant to grind down the tabs just in case something else is slightly off, and it'll probably void warranty. im hoping that maybe it was just a bad mold and not the jdm bracket being slightly different

They appear to have used a completely different casting for the rear housing. Note the tab for the thru-bolt at 2 o'clock is square instead of round.

Why aren't you interested in a rebuild by a local shop? Chances are what you've bought is just a rebuild from China. I'm not aware of anyone selling these new anymore.
