Stillway Parts?
 

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Stillyway Japan make a retrofit kit for the FD that lets the transmission behave like a sequential box? Also does anyone have any information on it? Photo's video, basic documentation ect?

HKS makes a sequential box for the FD, but it is around $20,000+ USD, iirc.

Ikeya makes a Formula Shifter that retrofits the transmission to shift sequentially.

It's $1800 bucks though and puts the shifter up really tall. Is it worth it? Who knows.

Yep, this is pretty much what I was looking for. i don't need a full on race transmission, just something that i won't miss gears with..

PPG no longer makes gear sets for the FD BTW. I looked into it awhile back and they would be willing to make a limited run, but the cost was some where north of 30K for 15 if I remember correctly. I"ll check my old emails and get back to you on that price.

The stillway sequential converter shifter is a rebadged Ikeya Formula basically. I tested one in Japan and you must be very accurate and precise otherwise the gear wont engage. In other words, you cant just slam it in, you have to do it with finesse. Dont listen to the idiot commentator as his translation is wrong, its not a sequential gearbox, just the sequential shifter mated to the stock transmission. Fast forward to 12:00 minutes.

The stillway shifter is not at all like the Ikeya formula shifter.

The ikeya unit is not really worth the time or money it takes to install or use because you still have to use the clutch.

The Stillway 0-400 shifter is a short shifter with a fairly simple gate system to keep drag race drivers from missing shifts. So here is a breakdown of how it works.
you pull up on the shifter ring (*similar to the shifter rings on VW and or porsches to get into reverse)
Then you put it in first gear. When you pulled the ring up you basically lifted the shift guide out of a gated area for 3rd and 4th gear. From 1st straight down to 2nd the shifter ring stays in the up position as it slided along the top of the gate. From 2nd to 3rd gear the ring drops down into the gated area and is blocked from going into 1st,2nd, or 5th. It basically makes it so that it can only be shifted straight down into 4th. If you need to get into 5th you have to pull up on the ring again and shift to 5th where it will then be outside of the gated area.

That makes sense to me when I read it but then again I have dealt with a couple of these shifters before. Feel free to pm me if anyone has any more questions about it.

OH and the gated feature of this shifter does not mean you always have to lift the shifter ring. You can lock the shifter ring in the up position and it will shift just like a stock shifter/ short shifter.
