Starting to prep for AT to MT swap

93 base:
Been looking at the JDM import transmissions. Anything I should know before I pull the trigger.
Also would you recommend doing a rebuild before putting it on?

this is just my opinion, bro
sell the automatic and then buy a manual
they are not too expensive anymore, about 11-12k for sure
and you can get at least 8k for the auto easy

so instead of paying 1-2k and a huge headache, just get a manual with the difference

You will need a new dash harness or will need to modify the manual harness also you will need the manual companion plate. Other than that the swap is a piece of cake.

I am not going to sell the Auto because I have had it for the last 50,000 plus miles of its 92000 mile total. The interior is 9 out of 10. The paint is nice. No acccidents. I have no clunks or gremlins ect. I have two other vehicles and two motorcycles so parking the rx7 for a while is no biggie. I am looking to do this as a winter project.

Im asking myself the same question. Just bought a 100% stock 93 and wondering if it would be worth it to convert. Its a fun car but Im sure it will be better manual.

Guys I did it and it was easy. I only paid like 500 for my parts excluding aftermarket clutch, but I got lucky on the price. You can really do it under $1000.
