Squealing Noise w/video HELP!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oayq9Rjus2M

I can't figure it out, I thought it might be the ACV but I removed it, I've check all my hoses and found none disconnected..... help please. Thanks.

And yes Toto-Africa is playing in the background, I've been on an 80's kick lately.

korea_senpai 03-03-11 05:43 PM

And the idle is around 1500 I've adjusted the dash pot and tps and its still a bit high.

rx7rcer09 03-03-11 05:52 PM

ive never heard that before, possible vac line leak? do you have a boost gauge? if so what is the vac reading at idle. as for high idle a line that is off could cause that but there is the AAS screw if you take the intake elbow off, its center on the bottom of the upper intake manifold but i would look first for a vac leak.

Do you get full boost and does it do the noise when you are boosting?

Also check your block off plates.

agreed but after listening to the video again well about 3 times  the noise seems to sound louder and at a different rate when the throttle cable is pulled. its having me lean more towards a vac leak.

I've got about 6-7 of vacuum at idle, I haven't driven it yet. I've got a Vacuum hose diagram and I can't seem to find the culprit. But it keeps idling high.

6-7 PSI? if so you have a major leak.

korea_senpai 03-03-11 06:22 PM

Will a vacuum leak cause rough idle, though?

yes its possible depending on where the leak is and how bad it is.

also is the car drivable, i just thought of something. what is the max PSI you hit while in boost after playing the video again it could be but i highly doubt what sounds like metal metal maybe your turbos are bad?

korea_senpai 03-03-11 06:28 PM

Hmmmmmm, maybe I should take out the rats nest and see if I can find it.

you can always take that approach, but why not try the basics first spray some soapy water on the rats nest and look for bubbles. if that does not work get to pulling  also for idle check the Map sensor hose sometime that comes unplugged and caused idle issues.

That was the direction I was going. It sounds like a compressor wheel hitting the housing, but the weird part is that it doesn't do it all the time, apparently only during vacuum.

Long shot but check your BOV, CRV by unplugging them.

this is a possibility but would a stock Blow off valve make that noise if stuck?

on another note to the OP if its the turbos are you noticing blueish smoke at start up or a clucking noise from the exhaust side of the motor? and if discovered your turbos are blow DO NOT START THE CAR AGAIN pull the oil pan asap and remove all shavings from the oil pan and the pick up screen.

Well the it also sounds like when you blow the air out of a balloon when squeezing the fill tube, like the video below. So I was thinking that the BOV or CRV is partially open.

korea_senpai 03-03-11 07:00 PM

CRV sorry terminology is lost on me.

MR_Rick 03-03-11 07:03 PM

CRV= Charge Relief Valve. The other BOV looking thing that is behind the BOV

rx7rcer09 03-03-11 07:08 PM

love the quick science lesson:icon_tup:  i hope for the OP that its a simple hose rather than turbos. set up looks pretty nice.

korea_senpai 03-03-11 07:15 PM

Well I just swapped out my stockers for BNR stage 3s and when I put everything back together problems started up.

Brian's turbos are a very high quality unit, i would send him the video and see if he notices anything weird about them. how long have you had the turbos for? was install done by you or a shop?

korea_senpai 03-03-11 07:25 PM

By myself, but I labeled everything so I knew where everything went.

okay, a quick check i would perform on the turbos is pull the downpipe off and inspect the exhaust side turbine on the rear turbo check for damage and shaft play. without physically being able to check things on the car ill try to keep helping you. but as i said start with the little things and work to the bigger harder jobs.

also i forgot to ask when did the issue occur? was it after a drive, while getting into the boost?

korea_senpai 03-03-11 07:37 PM

I haven't even driven it since I put the turbos on.

MR_Rick 03-03-11 07:49 PM

I was doing some reading on your issue. Do this before you take the downpipe off. Remove the crossover pipe on the y-pipe. and start the car and see if the noise still there. If it is gone then you ave a leak some where.

This guy seems to had the same problem

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=squealing

korea_senpai 03-03-11 07:51 PM

The noise is coming from under the UIM, its not really from the turbo downpipe area. I really don't what to take the turbos off again, my car is RHD and the steering column is annoying and in the way
